Bigger and better than ever before, the famed gourmet food fair makes its grand annual comeback for 2015
The best thing about Marina Bay Sands’ Epicurean Market is that you get to eat from the best without spending a fortune on a tableat Singapore’s top restaurants. So, to say that we’re excited for this three-day food fiesta ($28 for three-day access pass) is a bit of an understatement. In fact, we’re throwing fist pumps in the air and mad-scribbling on our calendar when we first heard of its comeback. Ahead, we give you a low-down on what’s happening at the famed gourmet food fest this year.
Eat your heart out
Taking place 14 to 16 August 2015, the Epicurean Market will see Marina Bay Sands’ stellar line-up of dining establishments setting up booths and offering exquisite bites. Think freshly shucked oysters and other seafood creations by db Bistro & Oyster Bar, plus some excellent Indian spiced wagyu short ribs and prime steak sandwiches by CUT by Wolfgang Puck.

New restaurants – like David Myers’ Adrift and Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen – will also be making an appearance (great news if you haven’t been able to visit either places) at the market, putting out signatures like Adrift’s King Crab Melt with Pimento Cheese and Bread Street Kitchen’s Traditional Fish and Chips for your tasting pleasure. Other familiar names, such as Long Chim, Sky on 57, and Waku Ghin, will also be present.
Shop at the farmer’s market
Passionate home cooks would not want to miss out on the farmer’s market, where they can pick up fresh ingredients like kale, artichokes, and heirloom tomatoes at close to wholesale prices. Need some kitchen inspiration? Sample fresh food throughout the market, interact with experts for cooking tips, and help yourselves to a couple of recipe cards.

For lovers of the finer things in life, there are sections dedicated to cheese (by The Cheese Artisans), house-made charcuterie and pastries (by Daniel Boulud’s Épicerie Boulud).
Drink fine wine, spirits, and premium coffee
Vino lovers, look forward to sipping on wines sourced from all over the globe at the Wine Zone, which has nearly 30 wine suppliers including KOT Selections, The Oak Cellars, and Wine Culture.
Prefer whiskey? Head straight to Diageo’s booth. A combination of a cocktail bar and a whiskey lounge, it’s helmed by award-winning mixologists from the Diageo Reserve World Class Bartender Competition, who will whip up intriguing mixes using ingredients from the farmer’s market. For hands-on fun, partake in the whiskey appreciation mini-workshops conducted by Christoph Nyfeler – founding partner of Whisky World.

Finally, if you’re a coffee freak, you can knock yourself out at the Nespresso bar where there’s a selection of the top one to two percent of the world’s coffee beans available.
And that’s just really skimming the surface, folks. Over the course of three days, there’ll be various activities to take part in, from after-parties (Fri and Sat till 1am; listen to tunes by the impressive line-up of international DJs, enjoy handcrafted cocktails at special Epicurean Market prices) to baking workshops for kids and even special wine dinners. Better get those tickets pronto.
