The evening is inspired by the spirit of Song-dynasty literati gatherings- evenings of tea, poetry, conversation, art and an appreciation of the changing seasons.
Osmanthus has long been intertwined with the imagery of autumn and the moon. 桂花酒, wine infused with osmanthus, appeared in early Chinese literature and later became a Mid-Autumn tradition.
For this session, we borrow from that tradition, 以茶代酒, tea in place of wine.
We begin with chilled osmanthus yellow tea, followed by three hot teas, each accompanied by a complimentary seasonal pairing:
桂香
2026 Osmanthus yellow tea · Roasted chestnut
岩韵
2016 Da Hong Pao · Lotus with olive kernel mooncake
陈香
2011 Ripe pu-erh · Dried tangerine peel
We will end with 月下小诗, a little poetry exercise beneath the moon.
No poetry experience needed. Just three lines, and a little space to reflect. A small gathering for six guests only.
