3 easy recipes to surprise mum with this Mother’s Day
1. Starter: Berries, nuts and salami salad with honey

Ingredients:
- Vegetables and fruits of choice
- Tasti Raw Snacking berry and nut trio
- Verkerks Italian sliced salami
- Mount Somers manuka honey
Light on the palate yet bursting with flavours, salads are easily one of the best dishes to whet your appetite. The cherry on top? It’s easy-breezy to put together, with almost zero cooking involved.
The first of our Mother’s Day recipes is a crunchy berries, nuts and salami salad drizzled with honey. Prepare your salad base with mum’s favourite vegetables and fruits. We suggest using romaine lettuce for some crunch, baby spinach for slight earthiness, and cherry tomatoes for juiciness and sweetness.
For the main star, throw in some Italian sliced salami from Verkerks. Deliciously marinated in garlic and cracked pepper, these meat slices instantly elevate the salad with rich umami flavour. Next, add in some berries and nuts from Tasti’s Raw Snacking series. Each pack is a sweet and savoury mix of peanuts, almonds, golden raisins, cranberries and cashews. Just a handful will give your salad that extra texture and natural goodness.
Finish off with a generous drizzle of Mount Somers manuka honey. Hailing from New Zealand, this MGO-certified velvety honey seamlessly blends the savoury and fresh notes of the salad.
2. Main: Fish and chips

Ingredients:
- Sealord hoki fillets
- Wattie’s frozen mixed vegetables
- Proper Crisps
This next recipe is a classic – and with the right ingredients, it will come together in a snap. For the protein, we’re opting for convenient frozen fish fillets. Wild-caught and sustainably fished by Sealord in New Zealand waters, these hoki fillets come snap-frozen for freshness and coated in a mouth-watering batter. They also come in a variety of flavours (think tempura batter, lemon pepper crumb and garlic panko), depending on your preference. Simply bake or air fry these, and they’re ready to be served.
For chips, you can pretty much go with anything that mum fancies. Need recommendations? Light and crispy, the potato chips from Proper Crisps make a healthier substitute for fries. These are made with 100% natural ingredients, plus are free from GMO and gluten. Pick among tantalising flavours such as smoked paprika, Marlborough sea salt, as well as dill pickle and cider vinegar.
To complete the dish, don’t forget about the greens, too. Throw in some vegetables from Wattie’s for a good mix of corn, long beans, peas and carrots. Psst: these veggies are snap frozen to retain as much nutritional value as possible – bonus health points!
3. Dessert: Peanut butter brown rice crackers topped with fruits

Ingredients:
- Ceres Organics rice cakes
- Forty Thieves peanut butter
- Goodness Kitchen chocolate fruit bites
Desserts are non-negotiable, especially if your mum has a major sweet tooth. These peanut butter brown rice crackers topped with fruits will end your feast on a sweet note while still keeping an eye on the waistline.
For a light and crunchy base, we’re busting out some rice cakes from Ceres Organics. Each rice cake boasts high nutritional value thanks to minimal processing. Plus, they come lightly salted, so you don’t have to spare any time seasoning them.
Next, slather a thick layer of Forty Thieves peanut butter on the crackers. 100% golden roasted peanuts are crushed into a naturally sweet, protein-packed spread that’s oh-so-addictive. If pure peanut flavour is not your jam, try the keto butter (a mix of peanuts, macadamias, almonds and other goodness) or chocolate fudge instead.
Finally, to make your sweet treat picture-perfect, garnish it with your choice of fruits. If you want to dial up the indulgence, why not go for chocolate-covered fruits as your garnish? Goodness Kitchen’s version is a guilt-free alternative to check out. Think ripe frozen strawberries, blueberries, cherries and pineapples wrapped in rich dark vegan chocolate.
