New restaurants in Hong Kong 2024 – October edition
Sun Moon Place
Step into the 1980s over Peking delicacies at Sun Moon Palace. From our recent visit, the chewy and well-seasoned Sliced Pig’s Knuckle in Peking Style was one of our favourites, as it gave just the right amount of smokiness. The crunchy Fried Dumplings was another highlight for us, with juicy and fragrant pork nestled inside.
But of course, the true show-stopper has got to be the Barbecued Peking Duck. Its tender meat and crispy skin had us going for seconds (and thirds)! Tip: be sure to sprinkle a bit of sugar over the duck skin in classic Peking fashion. While you’ll be unbuttoning your pants by the final main, the Caramelized Apple with its pile of wispy burnt sugar will get you digging right back in.

Onda
Join celebrated Chef Sergio Landi on a flavourful journey through the Mediterranean at Onda. Enjoy an innovative take on seafood cuisine crafted with the freshest of ingredients, starting your meal with the Aged Organic Salmon – whimsically plated in the shape of a starfish. We’re also fans of the Spaghetti Carbo Mare, as its cuttlefish and prawns go perfectly with the boldness of the pecorino egg and the salty cured pork cheek. In addition to Onda’s main dining room, the cosy hidden bar is also a must-visit for tipples and light bites. The bartender crafts delightful cocktails here at Palombar, with signatures such as the Smoked Amaretto Sour and Tiramisu Martini.
Onda, 69 Jervois Street, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong, p. 5603 8598
Courtroom
Coming to the Soho neighbourhood is one courtroom that you definitely won’t be disappointed standing in. Co-founded by Saan Dhakal and Ranjeet Khatri, two veterans of Hong Kong’s bar scene, Courtroom slings playful and unexpected craft cocktails with a focus on social sustainability. In a whimsically contradictory space (think Lady Justice with a martini in hand instead of a balance scale!), guests will be getting a kick out of the tongue-in-cheek decor while sipping on cocktails like The Alimony and Sworn Affidavit. You bet we’ll be stopping by after work to try every experimental drink in the Cocktail Casefiles!
Courtroom, 52-54 Graham Street, Soho, Hong Kong
Mooo!
In the bright dining hub of TST, Australian grills and global contemporary cuisine come together for a bold new concept: Mooo. These Mooopas and Mooofeast plates embrace glocal flavours, featuring dishes like Satay Beef Langos Fried Bread; Bone Marrow & Brisket Wellington; and Slow Cooked Sirloin Australian Claypot Rice. Don’t forget to wash everything down with the equally inventive Moooshakes – coming in charming milk bottles – and the tea-infused cocktails (tea-tails)!

Designed with marble and allusions to Ancient Roman architecture, the Italian eatery is rustic yet elegant. What’s more, it boasts an incredible view of Victoria Harbour. Further, a menu highlight is the New Zealand Scampi Carpaccio with Oscietra Caviar, Green Apple, Lemon, and Olive Oil. This dish highlights the incredibly fresh umami of the scampi carpaccio. What’s more, it’s got just the right amount of kick with the delicate spices used. Signature pastas, like the Linguine alla Sabatini, showcase quality ingredients. Here, fresh scallops, clams, and mussels are served in a flavourful “Sabatini” original red sauce. Your dining experience at Sabatini includes a slice of Rome right to your table! Enjoy the delicious dishes alongside live performances.
