Falafel TLV: A great spot for lunch or dinner
If you are looking for a new lunch spot in Central, then you definitely have to try Falafel TLV. The specialty here – unsurprisingly – is fabulous falafel and really good hummus. The food is all made fresh every day, and an extra dose of love is put into the home-style cooking.
What should I eat?
If you are there for lunch, and you want to be full, then definitely try the set lunch for $118. Grab a plate of hummus, a pita sandwich or schnitzel along with a drink and traditional Malabi for dessert.
If you are going for a la carte, then the sabih sandwich is great. Filled with fried eggplant, Israeli salad, the pita sandwich is best topped off with the homemade Amba – a tangy sauce made from mango and turmeric which is the colour of amber and is really tasty.
The hummus is just delicious. Unlike the packaged variety that you get from the supermarket, the flavour is much heartier, with just the right amount of sesame-packed Al Arz tahini, and I really like the way they serve it with some whole chickpeas on the top to add a little texture. Don’t miss the baba ganoush or the tabbouleh; both are super satisfying and fresh.
On top of all this, Falafel TLV also sells a selection of products from Israel, including the tahini they use to make their hummus and a range of wonderful spices for making delights like shakshuka. Fans of Middle Eastern food definitely need to make a visit.
