Sleek interiors, locally-inspired cuisine and the only beachfront infinity pool on the island – The Sasak Bistro & Bar is taking Gili Trawangan’s dining scene up a notch.
We never need an excuse to hop over to our neighbouring paradise island, Lombok. But ever since the opening of The Sasak Bistro & Bar on Gili Trawangan, we’ve gained a very sleek and oh-so scrumptious reason to visit on the regular…
Situated at the architecturally-stunning Marc Hotel Gili Trawangan – the tallest building on the island – The Sasak Bistro & Bar has levelled-up Gili T’s dining scene. By day, you’ll find healthy and hearty brunches and bistro-style sandwiches beside the only beachfront infinity pool around, while by night, this dazzling destination transforms into island sophistication with amazing cocktails, ocean-fresh seafood and a curated collection of international wines.
All of this is then wrapped up in contemporary architecture and interiors, with nods to Lombok’s Sasak culture (the restaurant itself is a modern interpretation of a traditional Sasak House!) The result? A gorgeous, open-air space that’s at once charming, traditionally-sophisticated and perfectly tropical…
You’ll love it because… The Sasak Bistro & Bar breaks away from Gili Trawangan’s typical collection of casual beach shacks, instead bringing a menu of refined international and Indonesian-inspired plates to the beachfront. Think familiar favourites and local delicacies that have been fine-tuned and tweaked, bistro-style.
You’ll want to try… the Ayam Bakar Taliwang (that’s charcoal-grilled chicken, FYI). It pays homage to local Lombok delicacies by recreating this traditional staple using Ayam Kampung (free-range chicken) plus local spices and herbs. It is positively bursting with flavour, served up with Plecing Kangkung (spicy spinach).
Wash it down with… one of The Sasak Bistro & Bar’s fabulous vinos. The restaurant is home to a portfolio of international wines, with ongoing promos included!
Come back for… that dazzling pool! It’s not only Gili Trawangan’s only beachfront infinity-edge watering hole, it’s also where you’ll find The Sasak Bistro & Bar’s afternoon free-flow sessions – starting soon!
See on the island, Honeys!
