The lowdown on the Nasi Campur lunch
The beauty of Nasi Campur is in its variety – a medley of flavours, spices, local produce and captivating aromas. So in true Merah Putih style, they’ve gone above and beyond with their variety of Nasi Campur, with five different options to choose from. First up is the famous Ayam Betutu, which features juicy chicken marinated in Balinese “base genep” paste, wrapped in banana and betel leaves, then slow-cooked for five to six hours. Or the juicy Babi Panggang, AKA slow-roasted pork belly with Balinese paste and of course, crispy crackling, served with traditional vegetables and sambal matah. Completing the carnivorous lineup is the Sapi Balado; succulent beef cheek braised for hours in a West Sumatran spicy balado sauce.
And for the non-meat eaters, Merah Putih has got you covered too. You can opt for the Jimbaran-style grilled barramundi that’s packed with spices, or the vegetarian-friendly Sayur Pecel; a Javanese staple made with a mix of vegetables, tofu, tempe and peanut crackers.
And psst – if you mention Honeycombers, you can score any of these Merah Putih Nasi Campur lunches for just IDR 125,000 nett. We’ll take one of each, please!
Made by local Balinese culinary experts
If you’re wondering how Merah Putih has managed to capture the flavours of Indonesia on a plate, well, we’ve got Executive Chef Wiwik to thank. Sharing her love of time-honoured recipes as well as the unique flavours of the archipelago, Chef Wiwik puts her passion into Merah Putih’s menu. Inspired by her travels to every corner of the country, she expertly balances traditional spices, authentic recipes, fresh locally sourced ingredients as well as modern cooking techniques – not only for the Nasi Campur lunches, but in every single standout dish at Merah Putih.
All of this in an award-winning, fine dining restaurant…
As Bali’s original Indonesian fine dining restaurant, you can expect big things from Merah Putih. The classic dishes as well as the modern interpretations of traditional recipes are of course the highlight, but it’s also the elevated dining experience that truly sets Merah Putih apart. Starting with the show-stopping interiors (think majestic, Cathedral-like ceilings and sky-scraping pillars, filled with indoor palm trees and a fairytale-like indoor garden) there really is nothing else quite like it. We say, grab a seat in the teakwood pods on the mezzanine level for a breathtaking view above the whole restaurant…
Topping off the Merah Putih experience is the team of hospitality experts – the stars of the show who can carefully select the perfect premium wine from the cellar, or shake and stir a signature cocktail with a hint of Indonesian flavours. It’ll come as no surprise that Merah Putih has been awarded “Restaurant of The Year” for 2023 – 2024, and “Indonesian Restaurant of The Year” two years in a row!
Like we said, we’re calling this the very best Nasi Campur in Bali…
