This bohemian, eco-luxury abode isn't your typical Bali villa - it's a barefoot beachside hideaway that's captured the spirit and soul of Bali...
Luxury villas in Bali are usually exactly that – chic and sleek residences with every mod-con imaginable. And don’t get us wrong, we love an ultra-luxe getaway that makes us ooh and ahh at every turn, but recently, we found a strikingly-beautiful Bali villa that made us swoon for different reasons…
Introducing, The Eco Gypsy Houses.
You won’t find any glossy marble here, nor any avante-garde appliances that require a handbook to navigate. Instead, you’ll find an eco-luxury abode made up of three traditional wooden “joglo” houses, intricately hand-carved by local artisans, beautifully white-washed and filled with exquisite artefacts from all over Indonesia.
You’ll also find easy, breezy cosy nooks that embrace the Balinese style of outdoor living, fringed by breathtaking sacred temples and serenaded by the sounds of soothing prayer. And proving that “traditional” doesn’t have to mean “rustic”, licks of luxury are inconspicuously dotted throughout, like delicate gold lampshades hanging like chandeliers, and high-end thread count linens, softer than silk. In-house chefs, massages and yoga sessions are all an added bonus…
At the heart of this three-bedroom retreat, a glittering infinity pool stretches the span of the tropical desert garden, lined with bright white daybeds that match the clean, white-washed hues throughout. From beneath the palms trees, to inside the open-air bathrooms that catch the sound of the sea, every corner of this eco hideaway has been meticulously and masterfully designed, maintaining the spirit and soul of Bali, whilst still resonating bohemian, barefoot luxury.
If that wasn’t enough to get your boho bags packing, this eco abode is quietly tucked away in the traditional Balinese fishing village of Seseh, footsteps from a peaceful surfing beach that’s dressed in dramatic black sand. It’s also only 10 minutes from central Canggu, meaning you’re far enough from the bars and beach clubs for a tranquil escape, yet close enough to browse the boutiques, graze at organic cafes or sip on world-class sundowners whenever the mood strikes….
*Insert long satisfied sigh here* – eco-travel has never looked so good.
