Have we seen the last of the Singapore Grand Prix night race? We run through the reasons why we hope that’s not the case
Let us get you up to speed if you haven’t heard the latest F1 Singapore rumours yet: word on the street is that the Singapore Grand Prix might be screeching to a halt come next year, despite the high-octane festivities it incited earlier in September. It has been reported that the Singapore promoters are not intending to host the races beyond 2017, just one year short of what would’ve been the Singapore GP’s 10th year anniversary. While we’re keeping our fingers crossed that we haven’t hit the finishing line just yet, here are five things we’re definitely going to miss if the checkered flag comes down.
The high-speed action
There’s truly nothing like the visceral experience of cheering on the stands, feeling the power of the V8 engines reverberate through your bones, and hearing the incredible roar of the engines as it blares through the night. Sure, it’s a hell of a ruckus, but it’s one we’ll miss for sure.
The novelty of the night race
Where else are you going to find an F1 race beneath the starry skies? Okay fine, so you don’t actually get to see any from the harshly illuminated racegrounds. But when set against the twinkling Singaporean skyline, it’s a spectacle like no other.

The star-studded entertainment
We can still feel our goosebumps from past headlining musical acts like Queen + Adam Lambert, Katy Perry, and even the Goddess herself, Béyonce. We don’t want the star power to end!
The non-stop after-parties
Knocking back unlimited supplies of Champers, witnessing dazzling runway shows, and rubbing shoulders with who’s who – we’ll always remember the hardcore nights of debauchery that come with the regular F1 after-parties… hung over or not.
The unbeatable dining promos
We clearly love F1, but we won’t deny that crowds and humidity aren’t a fun mix. That’s why we’re lso gonna miss watching the action from the comfort of our VIP spots in Smoke & Mirrors, Lantern, and Marina Bay Sands. And those killer drink and nosh deals? Keep ’em coming, we say!
