Ninety minutes at one table, drawing a single paper tile by hand.
Zentangle is a way of drawing structured patterns, one deliberate stroke at a time. At the Tangled Monk studio on Joo Chiat Road, artist Preetie Kohli takes a small group through it from the very first line. No drawing experience is needed, and there’s nothing to bring.
Sessions run on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, at 10am and 3pm. The ninety minutes of drawing sits inside a two-hour window, so there’s room to settle in, to talk, and to finish without hurrying.
There are four places at the table and bookings are for two or more, which makes it an easy afternoon for a pair of friends, a mother and daughter, or a small family.
Everything is provided: an acid-free paper tile, pens and pencils, and a pouch to take home alongside the tile you have drawn. Suitable from around age twelve, and younger children alongside an adult.
S$50 a person, materials included. The studio is at 170B Joo Chiat Road, level three.
