Roots and Wings captures the timeless journey of the artist — grounded in heritage, elevated by imagination, and shaped by the encounters that define creative growth.
Now in its fifth edition, VOICE OF ART presents Roots and Wings, a curated group exhibition bringing together emerging and established artists in a shared space of dialogue, mentorship, and artistic evolution.
The theme invites reflection on both origin and aspiration — where we come from, where we are headed, and how we grow together as a community. Roots signify heritage, memory, and identity, while wings represent aspiration, innovation, and transformation. Together, they embody the foundation of artistic expression and progress.
This exhibition reaffirms the belief that creativity flourishes through connection — when emerging voices are uplifted, established artists are honored, and generations meet in mutual respect. By bridging disciplines and experiences, Roots and Wings celebrate the strength of an artistic family that learns, grows, and rises together.
Bringing this vision to life, VOICE OF ART 5 showcases a distinguished roster of artists whose works span generations, mediums, and cultures. Featured master artists Fan Shaohua, Tan Kay Nguan, and Koeh Sia Yong continue to shape Singapore’s visual arts landscape through their profound mastery and enduring influence. Acclaimed watercolorist Donald Tan and Vietnamese artist Mai Vu adds lyrical and cross-cultural dimensions to the exhibition, while UOB award-winning artists William Goh, Arick Lee, and Quthub represent a vibrant new generation of creative talent.
Leading sculptors Chong Fah Cheong, Cassandra…lend their distinctive voices to the three-dimensional realm, embodying strength and movement in form. The exhibition also highlights exceptional artists working in diverse mediums, including lacquer artist Duc Nguyen, whose work bridges traditional craftsmanship with contemporary sensibility.
Completing the showcase is an inspiring ensemble of established and emerging names: Barry Yeow, Ong Hwee Yen, Kay Kok Chung Oi, France Gaggioli, Phan Hien, Paul Rocero, Belinda, Gargi Sen, Chongling Dong, Joshua Ang, Ankita, Bhagya Laxmi, and Priyanka — together reflecting the vitality and interconnected spirit of today’s regional art community.
Presented during a period of national reflection and renewal, the exhibition also acknowledges Singapore’s continuing journey — a shared landscape that informs many of the stories represented here — while highlighting the enduring power of creativity, collaboration, and collective progress.
Roots and Wings invites visitors to witness how artists transform memory into motion and tradition into possibility. It stands as a testament to the collective spirit that defines Singapore’s creative landscape — one rooted in community, lifted by imagination, and ever reaching toward new horizons.
