Cabin innovation by Etihad
Etihad Airways – national airline of the United Arab Emirates – are ushering in a new era of luxury travel in their Airbus A380 and B787 Dreamliner aircrafts by redefining cabin classes.
The crowning jewel of Etihad’s new innovations is The Residence by Etihad, which is definitely the world’s most luxurious living space in the air (for commercial airliners, at least). Featuring a living room, a separate double bedroom, and an ensuite shower, The Residence will be a completely new forward upper-deck cabin on the airline A380s.
Guests in this cabin will also have a personal Butler (trained at the famed Savoy Butler Academy in London!) at their beck and call. That’s not all – a dedicated VIP Travel Concierge will take care of your entire travel experience, down to the smallest detail like ground transport, food and amenities.

Etihad also has their head in the game when it comes to revamping the usual cabin classes. The industry will be looking at its first single aisle first class cabin in the airline’s First Apartments. For the honeymooners, check out Etihad’s First Suites, which can be joined to create a ‘double’ bed.
The folks at Etihad (cleverly) recognized that being 30, 000 feet up in the air represents a great opportunity for relaxed networking and mingling. Enter The Lobby – a serviced lounge and bar area with a semi-circular leather sofa, a marquetry table, and a large TV screen – that’s located between the First and Business cabins. Business people, take note!
Etihad Airways’ first A380 will operate commercially from Abu Dhabi to London Heathrow from December 2014, while the initial routes of the first B787s will include Washington DC, Düsseldorf and Mumbai.
