You could be at the Suncity Group 66th Macau Grand Prix
Back for its 66th year, this year’s street race will have more colour, action and competition than ever before, and you could be right there in the Lisboa Bend Stand. Watch as some of the world’s top drivers fight it out over six races, including the FIA F3 World Cup, the SJM Macau GT Cup – FIA GT World Cup, and the Suncity Group Macau Guia Race – FIA WTCR, and feel the excitement of the crowds around you.
The Suncity Group Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix is designated the official FIA F3 World Cup for the fourth consecutive year, and the 2019 race will feature cars which contest the new FIA F3 Championship for the first time. Alongside this, lovers of speed on two wheels will want to check out the Suncity Group Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix – 53rd Edition, which has once again attracted the cream of the world’s international road racers to compete on Macao’s legendary 6.2km Guia street circuit.
The Guia Circuit in Macao is a combination of fast straights and sharply twisting corners, making it one of the most exhilarating, and demanding street circuits in the world. Just last year, Edoardo Mortara and Mercedes set the Macau GT Cup Lap Record of 2:18.276 over the 6.2km track, so who knows what you may be witness to in 2019!
President of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Mr. Jean Todt has said about the event: “The Macau Grand Prix is one of the most prestigious motorsport events in the world and we are looking forward to the 66th edition. Macao is known all over the globe as a passionate and vibrant city, and the perfect location to host such a key event in the motor racing calendar. The introduction of the new Formula 3 car brings a further dimension to this thrilling event.”
Tickets for practice days start from just 50MOP, while race day tickets range from 400-1000MOP, making it the perfect day (or weekend) excursion for friends or family.
Exciting events to watch out for
Alongside the main event, there are a number of fun happenings in Macao that you’re going to want to pencil in your calendar. The Macau Grand Prix Family Carnival will take place 2-3 November in Tap Seac Square where children can learn all about pro racing with car-themed interactive games as well as experiencing the fun of the various roles and tasks in organising the event. Then, from 9-10 November, the annual supercar and motorcycle show at Tap Seac Square will kick-off the Suncity Group 66th Macau Grand Prix. During this free event, visitors will be able to view the GT3 sportscars and superbikes taking part in this year’s Grand Prix, and enjoy the official opening ceremony for the event on the Saturday afternoon.
Plus, foodies will definitely want to make a beeline to Praça do Lago Sai Van while they’re in town, where the 19th Macau Food Festival will be held from 8-24 November. Expect a range of local delicacies alongside gourmet treats from across the globe in a carnival-like atmosphere – the perfect way to fuel up after all that racing.
