Ready for a makeover? The Strand will impress you with its professionalism and friendly atmosphere
Hair is beautiful when it’s well taken care of. Whether it’s trying out Chinese medicine hair care products like Herbal Legend or scouting out the best hair salons in Hong Kong, we love seeing what’s good in the way of HK hair. I headed over to The Strand in Central to experience a haircut with Beverley Cappleman, Managing Director and Founder of the hair salon. See how she freshened up my look below.
Exceptional service at The Strand
I went to visit The Strand on a Thursday morning, and the place was already packed – which is definitely a good sign. Smiling stylists from all over the world were conversing with their clients throughout the salon which is decked out in a cool white vibe with pops of dusky colour.
After being offered a drink, I was introduced to my stylist Beverley Cappleman, who also happens to be the Managing Director and Founder of the salon.
How is The Strand different?

Besides the fact that The Strand spreads over four floors: mens, ladies, spa, makeup lounge – what really separates this salon from the crowd is the professionalism of the staff and the friendly atmosphere.
I had a particular hair style in mind, and Bev was great about discussing my concerns around styling it once I left the salon. She also suggested evening up my asymmetrical shaved sides to give a more striking effect – love!
Bev really considered the cut when she was working on my hair, and now, three weeks later – it still sits really well, even without the use of any product (and Bev’s magic hands!) After she blow dried the style into place, she applied two different products and showed me how to style it for myself, so that I could achieve the same look. This is really key for people with short hair, and the products I then purchased have been really great – read, easy to use – which means I totally trust her recommendations.
As we were chatting throughout the haircut, Bev said that she loves keeping the team inspired by arranging regular trainings where new tips, tricks and trends can be experimented with – which is excellent to hear.

Yes, the team were consummate professionals – as you would expect from stylists with such international experience – but what struck me most was just how friendly they all are. The atmosphere is kind of like your favourite cafe where people just happen to be doing your hair – now, wouldn’t that be nice!
