Jacquelin Cheung uses Enneagram to help the clients break free to live from a place of expansiveness and potential.
We love entrepreneurs and small business owners at Honeycombers, which is why we’ve created Launchpad, a comprehensive digital networking platform (with IRL benefits, too) that encourages connection, business support and community. It is a privilege and pleasure to learn from so many talented and inspiring folks, so we’ve decided to share the love by interviewing some of the lovely Launchpad members. Looking for inspiration? Check out how Jacquelin Cheung, founder of Insight Unlimited, gets it done like a boss.
How I get it done: Jacquelin Cheung
How and why did you decide to launch your business?
As a learning and development professional I have worked with a lot of “high performing” executives who suffer from emotional issues. They are technically competent yet their relationships and emotional control are in trouble. Some of the issues are deep rooted. Yet most of the corporations are only interested in investing in developing the skills to enable business growth.
I started Insight Unlimited because I am passionate in helping others to breakthrough from their personality pattern. As a coach, I am blessed to have the opportunity to work with individuals who are committed to realising their desires for a fulfilling life. I am a certified Enneagram teacher and always using the Enneagram to help the clients become free from their core operating principles and free to live from a place of expansiveness and potential. I am also keen to develop other coaches to use the Enneagram in their coaching.
What’s the secret to your success?
I think curiosity and appreciation. Curiosity develops empathy, which is particularly important for a coach. Instead of judging my clients, I ask questions to understand where they are coming from. When I am curious, I am more open to exposing myself to different ideas and cultures. As a result, I have a greater appreciation for life. Curiosity also leads to humility. There are a lot of things of which I am not sure, but one thing I can be sure is that I don’t know everything. I am constantly learning new things and listening to different opinions. I am not trying to prove others wrong. Instead, I come from a detached vantage point that helps others appreciate different perspectives.
What does the Launchpad community mean to you?
Community brings people with similar values together. We can learn from and support each other. Community is not only focusing on business, but also about bonding with each other. Helping others grow and succeed is the beauty of a community. Growing and sustaining a business is a tough job. We need community for a sounding board to give us advice, insights, and new perspectives. We are each only good at our own areas. In a community, friends with diversified experience and expertise can give us valuable feedback and suggestions on how to make our business more successful.
How I get it done: Lightning round
On a typical morning: I go swimming every morning. Swimming is a kind of meditation for me. I have peace of mind and connect with my body. It’s such a refreshing start for my day.
On the hardest part about the job: Marketing and business development. I prefer designing and developing new concepts and services. Yet I feel embarrassed to “sell” to others. It’s one of the areas that I need to breakthrough so that I don’t let my self-image to limit my growth.
On the advice you’d give your younger self: Be patient with others, as well as yourself. Don’t get frustrated when things are not going as you expected. Everything happens for a reason. When you look back, you will understand the wisdom of God. Stay with your negative emotions. It’s okay. Avoiding and pushing away negative feelings as it will just make you more miserable. Have faith and trust that you can handle it.
