Best Indonesian restaurants in Hong Kong
1. Kaum at Potato Head
Indonesia is home to over 600 tribal communities and Kaum pays homage to their traditional recipes with a modern spin. We recommend their Journey Menu if you’d like to sample a taste of the diversity across the island nation. There’s also a vegetarian-only menu for those keeping it green (rejoice!). And pairing your meals with Kaum’s tropical (and Insta-worthy) cocktails is a must – their Pisang Colada instantly takes you to Bali!

2. Pandan Leaf
Eating around Causeway Bay? Pandan Leaf will easily fill you up for under $100! Famous for its distinctive bright green pandan rice (hence, the name of the resto), other must-tries include the beef rendang, chicken satay, and the fried rice (have it with some water spinach). Indonesian restaurants always have plenty of tropical drinks on the menu – the calamansi ice and cendol will be fitting for your pandan rice!

3. Lucky Indonesia
There’s more to food than how it looks and Lucky Indonesia can testify. This low-key, Michelin-recommended diner has been serving some of the best Indonesian fare in Hong Kong for over 20 years now! The dishes are simple, authentic, and affordable, whilst keeping a cosy ambiance and humble service. You’ll be back in no time!

4. Warung Chandra
Another low-key eatery that may have fallen off your radar – Warung Chandra’s shopfront brims with all-time favourite Indonesian snacks and sweets. The setting is casual but if you’re stopping by on a Sunday, you’ll be scrambling for seats. Warung Chandra’s show stealer is the Nasi Ikan Penyet Lalap (fried fish with raw chilli sauce and rice), but in order to try small portions of different classic dishes, we recommend the assorted platters.

5. Kampoeng Fusion Restaurant
A well-known name when it comes to Indo food, Kampoeng is spacious and the subtle decor makes you feel at-home but also as if you’re dining at a village eatery! If you’re not sure what to order (simply ‘cause everything looks delish!), their Bebek Penyet (fried duck with raw chilli sambal) never disappoints (unless you can’t stand spicy). Also, we almost never leave without grabbing a lapis (layered cake) from the glass counter by the shopfront.

6. Poem
Bali, also known as the “Island of Gods” is the main inspiration behind Poem’s cuisine and stunning interior design. The sustainable menu is helmed by Chef Mustika Wayan, a native Balinese, who pours his heart out on to the plate. The must-tries at this Michelin recommended restaurant include their traditional Temple Rijsttafel Weekend Brunch, vegan and vegetarian desserts (yes, all of ‘em!), and their tumpeng which is a family-style platter perfect for celebrations. The calm setting makes dining at Poem a wholesome experience!
