Modern, rustic and oh-so chic, Pho Mo Berawa is bringing the rich flavours of Vietnamese pho to Bali...
Tucked away in one of the more chilled corners of Canggu, Pho Mo Berawa is a brand new and modern Vietnamese restaurant that is dedicating its culinary craft to one thing: pho – AKA Vietnam’s beloved rice noodle dish. A cool and casual getaway from the heat of the bustling streets, Pho Mo Berawa is a modern interpretation of a traditional Vietnamese house, incorporating rustic lines, silhouettes and natural elements like wood and stones. Step inside and it’s a cool air-conditioned space with sleek and chic interiors – the perfect place to slurp on a steaming bowl of flavourful pho…
The flavours are pho real
When it comes to the Pho Mo menu, quality over quantity is key. You won’t find a never-ending list of pho variations here, but instead, just two main dishes done right: Pho Bo with beef, and Pho Ga with chicken. And before you get FOMO from just two dishes to try, trust us when we say you need to take a sip of the Pho Mo broth first – we guarantee you’ll be back for more. Locally sourced and high-quality ingredients are used to recreate this Vietnamese broth. Made from bones, aromatics and spices, the broth is thick and rich in flavour – perfect for a rainy day, or a long and leisurely hang in the air-conditioned interiors.
Fun fact: Pho Mo’s broth is not only delicious, it’s also rich in collagen for those all-important health benefits. And on top of the tasty broth and homemade rice noodles, these wholesome bowls of goodness are topped with premium ingredients. You’ll find succulent rib-eye slices and Wagyu brisket in the Pho Bo, and juicy chicken slices (cooked using modern techniques to retain the tenderness) in the Pho Ga. All of this, finished with fresh herbs and spices, adding delectable layers of flavour with every slurp.
Delish extras and sides
The pho comes in three sizes to choose from: small, medium and ‘medium plus meat-up’ (with extra meat). You can also tailor your pho, be it extra broth, noodles, rib-eye, Wagyu brisket, chicken or onsen egg. And while the pho is certainly the star of the Pho Mo show, you’ll want to pair your bowl with a selection of the restaurant’s light bites too, including the Vietnamese fried spring rolls (available as a vegan option too); and nem nuong, AKA Vietnamese chicken and prawn sausages, made from fresh seafood and a blend of traditional spices. Pair all of this with a selection of ice teas, soft drinks and local beers, taking your sweet time to soak in this comfortably cosy restaurant.
Sleek, modern and rustic-chic
Step inside Pho Mo Berawa, and you have the choice to dine within the intimate outdoor seating area, or upstairs on the second floor where you’ll find bright and airy indoor and balcony seating. We love propping up the bar downstairs on the first floor, as it offers a front-row seat to the culinary sights and smells. And with a contemporary izakaya vibe to it, the bar is perfect if you’re flying solo, going on a date or dining in a small party.
As for upstairs, expect warm wooden interiors and sage green hues to bring a taste of the tropical outdoors into the restaurant. It’s an inviting setting for a Vietnamese feast or afternoon hangout with friends, and the Asian-inspired décor reminds you that you’re tucking into one of Vietnam’s most loved specialties. FOMO be gone!
