Ubud's most-anticipated new hotel opening of 2026 is almost ready to launch. Here's everything we know so far.
There’s a version of Ubud everyone already knows: rice terrace views, temples, the Campuhan Ridge walk at sunrise. But there’s an exciting addition that’s almost ready to open, in the shape of Kimpton Suntaya Bali Ubud. It’s the first Kimpton in Indonesia (IHG’s design-forward, slightly cheeky lifestyle brand, if you haven’t crossed paths with one yet), and the first international hotel to actually plant itself right in the heart of Ubud, rather than somewhere in the hills around it.
Consider this your first look at a place the rest of Bali hasn’t checked into yet, let’s dive in!

Location-wise, this one’s hard to beat
Ubud is home to a lot of beautiful luxury stays, but most of them are up in the hills, meaning you have a 20-minute drive from anywhere if you want to explore the area. Not Kimpton Suntaya Bali Ubud. The whole property sits along a stretch of the Wos River, close to the Ubud Palace, the traditional art market and the Campuhan Ridge walk – so much so, all three are doable on foot. Yes, even the ridge walk, if you’re the sunrise-hike type.
That location does a lot of the talking. Rather than a bubble to completely disappear into, Kimpton Suntaya is soon to become part of Ubud’s central scene – all without sacrifice your privacy. You’ll still enjoy your own quiet corner, and yes, you’ll still be surrounded by calming greenery (it’s still Ubud, after all!).
Let’s step inside the room
Step inside one of the Essential Rooms, and while this is the entry point, it’s already generous, with sizes start from almost 50 sqm. The interior feels warm and modern, all timber tones and jewel-coloured upholstery. We have to highlight the floor-to-ceiling window right by the reading nook, opening onto nothing but palm trees and jungle canopy. Perfect for a little downtime after a whole day out in Ubud.
Kimpton Suntaya Bali Ubud also went all out with the bathrooms. Think double vanities in green marble, a glass-walled shower, and then the bit that got us: a freestanding tub set right against the glass, close enough that the jungle feels like it’s in the room with you.
Nothing in the room feels like it’s just expensive furniture thrown together. The whole layout works, and that’s what makes it feel like somewhere you could live for a few days rather than just sleep for one night. If you want more room to spread out, they also have one-bedroom suites that come with their own plunge pools, and private villas at the top, each with enough space and separation from the main building that you could disappear for days.
Five ways to eat and drink at Kimpton Suntaya Bali Ubud
If there’s one thing to look forward to, it’s the culinary experiences here. Kimpton Suntaya has five dining options, each with their own speciality. But first, we’ve got to start with Imamura, led by a Michelin-starred chef, serving sophisticated plates with fresh ingredients. His technique stays Japanese, but the ingredients are mostly sourced right here in Bali. Right alongside it, Shaku by Imamura, takes the more relaxed route with izakaya-style small plates and a speakeasy bar.
Up for something more boldly spiced and local? Get your fix at Cascara. It’s a progressive take on Indonesian cooking, with serious punch. Then, for a little casual and social spot, they also have a cafe and social hub, Samana, serving zero proof beverages and a cosy seating to work. Last but certainly not least, Pelago, the hotel’s day club, will be the absolute best place to be when you feel like a negroni (or three).

You can’t come to Ubud without expecting top-notch wellness, and Kimpton Suntaya Bali Ubud delivers well beyond that. Wellness here is built into how your days unfold, not something you have to carve out time for. It starts with sleep tech worked right into the suites, so you’re basically doing wellness while unconscious. The idea is simple: you shouldn’t need to book a 90-minute slot to feel like your stay’s doing you good. It should run from check-in to check-out instead. You’ll leave feeling energised, not just relaxed. Isn’t that just wonderful?
The verdict
Kimpton Suntaya Bali Ubud hasn’t even opened its doors to the public yet, but if this intro is anything to go by, we cannot wait to see it come to life once everything’s fully switched on. In short, this soon-to-open hotel is shaping up to be one of Ubud’s most-anticipated openings of 2026.
