Sweet, glazed, gluten-free or savoury - however you like your doughnuts, Dough Darlings knows how to do them best.
When you think of food in Bali, no doubt fresh fruit platters, colourful poke bowls and healthy smoothies spring to mind. But let’s be honest – all we really want is a soft and chewy glazed doughnut, plumped up with sweet and savoury fillings that ooze with ooey-gooey deliciousness. Well, that’s why we get our fix at Dough Darlings.
Dough Darlings started back in 2015 as an artisanal doughnut store in Seminyak and Jimbaran. But now, this neighbourhood treat shop has expanded to Canggu, bringing with it a whole new look, a larger menu for all-day grazing, and a three-storey building complete with an indoor rooftop lounge. The one thing that hasn’t changed? Their commitment to wholesome ingredients, and an understanding that there’s simply no substitute to real milk, butter, and whole fruits when it comes to a truly scrumptious doughnut…
You’ll love it because… Dough Darlings’ doughnuts are handcrafted fresh every single day, using honest ingredients sourced both locally as well as from overseas to bring you those extra special flavours you don’t typically find in Bali. And what a selection of flavours they are… You can choose from more than 25 different varieties, from sweet to savoury and even gluten-free and vegan too. They also have the ever-Instagrammable doughnut cakes, perfect for a birthday party or special occasion.
You’ll want to try… Dough Darlings’ best sellers, like the Vanilla Glaze with a white chocolate drizzle, the Triple Belgian Chocolate dipped in milk chocolate, or if you don’t have a particularly sweet tooth, then try the savoury Mozzarella ‘bomb doughnut’ filled with mozzarella cheese and coated with a butter glaze. But that’s not all. Despite specialising in these delectable creations, Dough Darlings also dishes up an all-day menu alongside coffee, juices and mocktails. Tuck into a fluffy eggwich, or go big with an American sourdough cheeseburger – finished off with a doughnut for dessert…
Come back for the… sleek interiors and artsy vibes. Yep, Dough Darlings is more than just heavenly bites. The Canggu location is decked out in red brick, black iron accents, local wood and special ceiling art designed by Wayan Sudarna – AKA Nano Uhero – a Balinese artist known for his massive, boundary-pushing eco-installations scattered across the island. Spread out over three floors, you can dine in air-conditioned comfort on the first and second floors, or head up to the rooftop for views and a homely hangout – perfect for a post-feast food coma.
