But most of all, we love Bonito Fish Bar – a pescatarian restaurant that serves fresh-from-the-net fish and sustainably-caught seafood from Bali and beyond, perfect for lunch, dinner or an aperitivo too.
Celebrating the flavours of the sea with a premium selection of cooked and raw creations, Bonito Fish Bar is the work of Chef Maurizio Bombini, the brains behind Seminyak’s award-winning Mauri restaurant. Yet, in comparison to Mauri – its fine dining predecessor – Bonito is a casual restaurant, where simplistic dishes let the quality of the produce truly shine. Pan seared, crudo, roasted, raw or fried, it’s a place where you can graze on great seafood, exquisite wines and warm conversation – the same way Chef Maurizio would in his hometown of Puglia.
You’ll love it because… Bonito Fish Bar is where you can gather with friends, graze on fresh fish and seafood, and linger a little longer in the elegant interiors with a fine wine or craft cocktail. It’s a place for true connoisseurs of ocean delicacies, with an entire display of freshly cut fillets, shellfish, live oysters and clams, letting you choose your catch before tucking in. And you know you’ll be getting the very best here, because only the finest catch is accepted into Bonito’s kitchen, before being expertly prepared in-house and served up as imaginative plates that give you a taste of Chef Maurizio’s true culinary flair. And the best bit is, since 80% of the produce is local, it’s affordable too!
You’ll want to try… Bonito Fish Bar’s signature dishes, from the tuna tartare and barramundi ceviche, to the spectacular seafood platter that showcases a selection of raw and blanched delicacies. You’ll also want to try the crunchy prawns, the roasted octopus, and one of Bonito’s most popular dishes, the Zuppa di Mare. And if you’re swinging by for lunch, we say, order up the Bonito Rosetta – an Italian sandwich made with a natural no-yeast bread fermentation, filled with either octopus, poached lobster or tuna and stracciatella cheese.
Come back for… the warm hospitality, the regularly changing catch-of-the-day, and our favourite, the special Aperitivo Hours every day from 4pm to 7pm, where drinks are just IDR 80,000++ and served up alongside complimentary snacks.
