Where To Stay In Ubud: Editor’s Picks
1. Bisma Eight
Award-winning, sustainable boutique hotel with curated cultural experiences, infinity pool, and jungle views.

We love it because… Bisma Eight is an award-winning boutique hotel that tastefully combines Bali’s artisanal charm with stylish modernity – all with a commitment to sustainability. Picture this: naturally-lit suites filled with local crafts, jungle views and barrel-like bathtubs, and an infinity pool that feels like it’s flowing right into the treetops.
And with a collection of cultural experiences and stay packages, you can make your stay your own. For couples, there’s The Honeymoon package or the Retreat and Revive experience (think spa treatments and dreamy dining). Or, soak up local food and culture with The Ubud Heritage package or The Epicurean Escape. It’s the very best of Bali, wrapped up in a romantic sanctuary of culture, luxury and sustainability.

2. Abisena Wellness and Resort Ubud
Adults-only wellness retreat offering holistic spa treatments, jungle views, and Indonesian dining.

We love it because… Abisena Wellness and Resort Ubud is one of those rare spots that actually feels like a retreat. It’s hidden in a tranquil village that most tourists seem to miss, so you’re treated to the sounds of birdsong, swaying jungle palms, and your own breath slowing down. It’s adults-only, and you can really feel it.
I checked into one of the Jungle Pool Villas, and from the moment I slid open the glass doors to that private pool, I knew I wasn’t leaving in a hurry. There’s also a main infinity pool that’s framed by dense greenery, a sleek gym with valley views, and holistic wellness and cultural activities each day.
Then there’s the spa. Dirasha Wellness is where I experienced one of the most holistic wellness treatments in Bali. It tried the “Nadra Rita” floating sound healing, followed by a bamboo massage and a herbal bath that uses 128 local herbs. I floated out of that room. And when hunger struck, I headed straight to Runara Restaurant, where Chef Hans serves Indonesian dishes with a modern twist. The crispy bebek was my favourite – heritage cuisine done beautifully.
Turns out, the whole resort is inspired by the Balinese legend of Bima – and once I knew that, I couldn’t miss the soulful designs, ancient carvings and cultural touches. It’s quiet luxury with purpose. And if you ask me, it’s the perfect balance between an Ubud retreat and a luxury hotel.
Best for: Intimate, adults-only wellness escape with lush jungle views and a standout spa.
Price: From IDR 3,000,000 per night
Address: Jl Keliki, Tegallalang, Gianyar

Wind your way through this enchanting forest, past the jungle-facing restaurant, and you’ll find just a limited number of suites and private villas fit for the VIPs (with their own private plunge pools and deep soaking tubs). Unsurprisingly so, the resort’s global rep has attracted A-List guests like the Obamas and the Kardashians…
