Prime cuts, flame-grilled seafood, and cliffside views with sleek and stylish interiors - add AKASA to your must-eat list, stat.
Fellow foodies, we know there’s nothing more exciting than a brand new restaurant opening in Bali. And when it’s a fancy new fine dining destination at a prestigious and world-famous resort? Well, we just couldn’t wait to don our finest frocks to check out AKASA – the latest addition to the five-star Jumeirah Bali.
Situated on the topmost level of this coastal resort, AKASA is the newly opened signature restaurant that places diners in the midst of nature, sea and sky. With awe-inspiring views across the ocean, and the option to dine inside within the splendour of the glamorous dining room, here you can feast on premium cuts, wood-fired flavours and the very best ingredients that Bali has to offer.
You’ll love it because… AKASA is inspired by the Majapahit era, the golden age of Java. As such, the elegant and chic décor is reminiscent of a stately banquet hall, where a royal Javanese family would entertain a small group of friends over fine food, drinks and a royal ceremony. And you’ll feel like royalty here too, because the Asian fusion menu is the fine work of Chef Joan Achour, showcasing Bali’s rich and smoky flavours with nods to Thai, Japanese and Korean cuisines too. Each dish is designed to share, paying tribute to Bali’s time-honoured tradition of family-style meals on large platters, where you can swap and sample it all.
You’ll want to try… all of Chef Joan’s signature dishes! Start with a crudo selection that includes flame-grilled tuna tartare with Timut pepper and wood-fired veal katsu, cooked over an aromatic, wood-fired flame that uses seasonally-changing local firewood. Then, move on to the giant blue river prawns with mango and passion fruit, or the charcoal Wagyu beef salad. We also love the robata selection, from salmon with miso and yuzu, to the chicken with fiery panca paste and burnt cumin. And whatever you do, don’t miss AKASA’s prime cuts, like the T-bone and tomahawk steaks served with sides and sauces, or the tender lamb rack with yakiniku sauce. Finish it all off with the pandan crème brûlée with homemade kaya jam.
Come back for the… fire-pit sunsets and moonlit dinners. With such breathtaking panoramic views, any visit to AKASA must include time well spent on the al-fresco terrace, and we say, there’s no better time than when the sun is setting over the candy-coloured horizon. AKASA helps to ignite the evening atmosphere with its mesmerising fire-pits, hand-crafted cocktails and of course, Jumeirah’s world-famous five-star service.
