Hungry for a weekend of delicious, nutritious and environmentally friendly fun? Here’s three reasons why the Bali Vegan Festival 2017 needs to be on your hit list.
With the vegan movement proving stronger than ever in Bali and around the globe, what better place than Ubud to host the third ever Bali Vegan Festival, where delicious and nutritious food will be served up alongside inspirational talks, yoga and meditation classes, live music, healing sessions, movie screenings and more?
Whether you’ve already sworn yourself to a cruelty-free and environmentally friendly lifestyle, or you’re still carnivorous on the regular but interested in living more kindly, the Bali Vegan Festival 2017 is open to all, both die-hard vegans and the veg-curious.
Throughout the three-day weekend, from 6th – 8th October 2017, vegans and omnivores alike from across the globe will be flocking to two iconic venues in Ubud: Paradiso [Bali’s unique cultural centre and the world’s first organic vegan cinema] and Taksu Garden Spa, for a weekend of delicious, nutritious and environmentally friendly fun.
Though the promise of healthful eating, soulful dancing and diverse discussions is enough to get us front row at the fest, here’s three more reasons to add the Bali Vegan Festival 2017 to your hit list.
Reason One: The World-Famous Vegan Speakers
This year, the Bali Vegan Festival has outdone itself with a star-studded lineup of inspirational speakers. Hot on the lips of the global community, filmmaker and activist Kip Andersen [the man behind What the Health and Cowspiracy – two of the world’s most successful vegan documentaries] will be taking to the vegan stage to discuss his documentaries, his passion for animal rights, healthy lifestyles and saving the planet. Joining him will be runners Alan Murray and Janette Murray-Wakelin, who together ran around Australia [15,782km in 366 consecutive days] on a raw vegan diet, as well as renowned peaceful activist James Aspey, who’ll present a talk on “How to be an Effective Activist”. More speakers are yet to be announced too, so watch this space!
Reason Two: The Utterly Delicious Vegan Bites
Think vegan food is just kale, cabbage and alfalfa sprouts? Think again. The Bali Vegan Festival brings together the very best vegan cuisine on the island, from Ubud to Seminyak, Canggu and beyond. Think vegan sushi, crispy mushrooms, towering burgers and bursting burritos that are so full of flavour you’ll forget they’re actually good for you. And if you want to get your hands dirty, too, there’ll also be raw dessert workshops and vegan cooking classes to get stuck in to. Be sure to catch the vegan buffet from Down to Earth’s creative chefs to get a real taste of the diversity of vegan feasting.
Reason Three: The Welcoming Vegan Community
Shock horror: vegans aren’t the preachy, judgemental, ethic peddlers that the global media often likes to portray. Instead, the Bali Vegan Festival is for everyone – for vegans and omnivores, the old and the young, the spiritual and the non-believers. After all, the Bali Vegan Festival is all about uniting the community and spreading a message of kindness, compassion and love for animals and the earth, so you won’t find any hate or judgment here. Instead, you can join in on nourishing your body and soul through yoga and meditation classes, live music, healing sessions, movie screenings and a whole host of children’s activities, so bring your little environmentalists along too!
Like the sound of that? Then you’ll love to learn that entry to the main area of the Bali Vegan Festival is totally free, whilst talks, workshops and classes will be made as accessible as possible for all the community to enjoy.
