Culture vultures, designs addicts and luxury lifestyle enthusiasts, this one's for you...
Plenty of resorts and villas in Bali have at some stage promised an accommodation experience that gives you a glorious taste of Balinese culture. But if you ask us, no one has done it quite like Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach – the island’s newest design-led lifestyle hotel that’s dedicated to truly celebrating the flavours, culture and character of the local neighbourhood.
We’re not talking about any old neighbourhood here either, because this hot new hotel hub is smack bang in the cosmopolitan heart of Seminyak – gorgeously perched on the glittering beachfront, no less. And what this style-savvy hotel has managed to achieve [which so many have fallen short on] is to truly capture an authentic fusion of Bali’s beloved culture, with impressive touches of contemporary creativity thrown in.
Hidden amongst 4.7 hectares of lush, landscaped grounds, blooming with exotic plantings and beautiful vertical gardens, it is here that the very best of Bali has been seamlessly integrated, from the fabulously fashionable boutiques and world-famous restaurants of today, to the artisanal craftsmanship and architecture from yesteryear. So without further adieu, here are 5 reasons why we’ve fallen head over flip-flops in LOVE with Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach.
1. The dazzling hotel-wide designs
The moment our sandy toes stepped foot inside Hotel Indigo Seminyak Beach Hotel, our island socks were well and truly knocked off by the hotel’s modern, quirky and dazzling designs. For starters, the expansive lobby space – which is dubbed the Neighbourhood Gallery – is quite literally a swoon-inducing museum of local artisanal creations and award-winning international architecture.
To the left, a Balinese Subak-inspired wall structure is set against accents of verdant foliage, tranquil fountains and unique outdoor artworks. To the right is Hotel Indigo’s signature geometric lines that decorate walls, entranceways and canopies throughout the resort – a creative interpretation of the traditional Balinese weaving textile, Tenun Songket. Just try not to swoon…

2. That neighbourhood vibe
From the award-winning hotel design, to the island-inspired services and even the artful dishes served up from the seven different dining destinations, Hotel Indigo’s main #inspo comes from the surrounding Seminyak ‘hood, in particular, its star-studded neighbours [like the Bali Barber, Uluwatu Lace, Divine Earth Cinema Club and Seminyak Yoga Shala], the spectacular waves, breathtaking sunsets and the vibrant nightlife that’s just minutes away. Check out the video above and you’ll understand exactly what we mean.
3. Delicious dining destinations done right
Understanding that one-size-never-fits-all, Hotel Indigo has a whopping collection of seven different dining destinations for almost every occasion, every craving and every grazing whim. There’s the friendly neighbourhood vibes of Makase – a homey take on casual, rustic Asian-European fusion cuisine; Pottery Café with its finely curated collection of local specialty coffees, teas and chocolates, freshly-made pastries, and even a pottery-making workshop; Tree Bar – an organic artisan bar by day and speakeasy cocktail bar by night; Cave Pool Lounge serving scrumptious light bites and refreshing sweet treats by the resort’s main pool; Salon Bali, the signature degustation Balinese restaurant with 8- or 12-course menus; and SugarSand, Seminyak’s hottest new beachfront bar and restaurant with space for more than 400 beach enthusiasts. Cocktails at the ready!
4. Luxurious villa-living
Though we LOVE the rooms and suites of Hotel Indigo Bali [oh, those paradise views!], it’s the hotel’s 19 luxe villas that we can’t keep our eyes off. A clever juxtaposition of contemporary design and ancient tradition, each one has its own private outdoor swimming pool, whirlpool and gorgeous marble bathrooms, and all have been inspired by the Tri Hita Karana philosophy [that’s the Balinese people’s relationship with the Gods, living beings and the earth]. Each villa is planned like a Balinese house, consisting of three main areas: Nista Mandala, a space for residents to embrace the Gods; Madya Mandala, a space to be at one with nature; and Utama Mandala a space for interpersonal relations. Lazy arvos and zen sunsets incoming.
5. Dip, lift, relax, repeat
As part of the hotel’s stellar collection of facilities, activities and guest services [hello, personal neighbourhood host] the spacious grounds are home to not one, not two but three stunning pools, including the gorgeous Secret Garden pool shaded by swaying palms, and the enormous beachfront lagoon that almost touches the sparkling white sands out yonder. Not only that, but there’s also the swanky Sava Spa, complete with 10 treatment rooms, a Relaxation Lounge, a Reflexology Lounge, a Nail Beauty Lounge and even a 24-hour Health Club. The health club has its own wellness programs and fitness equipment too, especially for yoga, power stretching, weight-lifting, martial arts and even TRX.
Dip, lift, relax, repeat, then head to Tree Bar for late night cocktails after!
