Brace yourself for an exhilarating battle on the water as the nine national teams hit our shores for the first time ever.
Singapore’s known for hosting some of the most spectacular sports events in the world. We’ve covered plenty of land activities so now it’s time to head to the water. That’s right, get ready for a splashing good time as our city hosts the inaugural Singapore Sail Grand Prix from 14 to 15 January 2023.
Located at Parkland Green, East Coast Park, the event will see nine international teams battle it out on high tech, identical hydrofoiling F50 catamarans at highway speeds (over 100km/hr!). This will be SailGP’s eighth event of an eleven-stop global championship that includes visits to San Francisco, Saint-Tropez and Sydney.
Teams from Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Great Britain, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland and the United States will compete for points in six fleet races. Finally, the top three ranked teams will then battle it out for the overall Sail Grand Prix Singapore title. The best part? You can witness the adrenaline-pumping races within metres of East Coast beach!
Off-race entertainment for an event to remember

The action off water will be just as exciting! The various ticketing options (more on this later) allow you to enjoy the racing just the way you like it. Purchase SailGP ‘Beach Club’ or ‘Waterfront Access’ for a fun-filled race viewing experience unlike any other. In the Beach Club, make yourself comfy under a gazebo, watch the race on your dedicated screen and be treated to all-inclusive food and drinks, as well as a live DJ showcase.
Waterfront Access offers seats in the official spectator area with great views of the race, along with a live TV broadcast on big screens and race commentary. If that’s not enough, the SailGP Race Village is also filled with SailGP merchandise booths, food and drink outlets, activity stations and the main stage, which will feature athlete appearances.
From waterfront views to bringing your own boat
If you’re serious about the magnificent high-tech catamarans, we suggest purchasing a ‘Team Base Tours’ ticket for a behind-the-scenes tour of the pit lane garages. This is where the athletes and shore teams prepare the high-tech F50 race boats for the event. Rub shoulders with the athletes, and get up close and personal with the cutting-edge, wing-sailed boats.
Finally, if you’ve got your own boat, don’t think twice – just purchase the ‘Bring Your Own Boat’ package. Fly the SailGP flag on your boat for the best (and closest) views of the action. The package also includes access to both race days, front row views near the turning mark and finishing line, live race commentary over VHF, a souvenir flag, and food and beverage coupons to use after the race.

This may be the first time it hits Singapore’s shores but the iconic event has been around for two seasons. From the looks of it, SailGP is going to be one of the biggest sports events here in 2023. So, are you ready for this high-octane sailing event?
