Yoga instructor and personal trainer

I've changed lives and inspired my students to start taking better care of their mental health, especially in a busy city like Singapore. I've shown many that you can be successful and contented chasing and living your passion.
Tell us your story, how did you get here?
I started yoga in 2009 when I was feeling really depressed at university. I didn’t enjoy what I was studying and my relationship with my partner at that time didn’t work out. I accidentally found yoga and I got hooked on how good it made me feel. One day I told everyone I was going to become a yoga teacher, and it happened!
What impact have you made in Singapore?
I’ve helped so many people cope with stress in their lives – from work, home and relationships. People show up in classes because it takes their minds away from whatever’s affecting their emotions. I also have many students coming up to me to share how I’ve changed their lives and inspired them to start taking better care of their mental health, especially in a busy city like Singapore. I think I’ve really shown many that you can be successful and contented chasing and living your passion in life.
What does 2022 look like for you?
At this moment, motherhood is my priority! I just gave birth to my baby girl Mila last September and my priority is to be the best mum I can be for her. Also, I’ve started teaching again at Como Shambhala Singapore and I’m really excited to re-ignite my passion and love for teaching.
What do you love most about Singapore?
This is a tough question to answer. But if I can choose one, it has to be the variety of food. We Singaporeans definitely love our food culture!
What do you love most about your sport?
It’s so versatile. Yoga can help me get stronger and at the same time, help calm me down and relax when I feel super stressed and exhausted. The best thing about it for me? It can be done anytime, anywhere.
Who is your Local Legend, and why?
Sharon Wong, founder and CEO of Motherswork Singapore. As a mum with a successful business, Sharon always dedicates her time to the mummy community here, giving back and sharing her time with other busy mums. She’s very supportive and always thinks of others despite her busy schedule. She’s an inspiration and my role model as a selfless, successful and supportive mum entrepreneur.
