Founder and CEO of Zendyll

I’d like to believe that my contribution has made a community of music artists believe that pursuing a professional career in music is possible.
Tell us your story, how did you get here?
My name is Jon Chua JX, and I was born in Sydney, Australia but moved to Singapore when I was young. I fell in love with music and playing the guitar at the age of 12. I never had any formal music training because my family couldn’t afford it, but I picked it up on my own by reading tab books and the internet.
When I was 21 in 2011, I met 3 other friends and formed a band called The Sam Willows. For a good 8 years, we were blessed to tour many countries and do countless shows. During this non-stop action, I learned so much about music, the music industry, and people in general. From big arena stages to intimate shows, I learned to always give my best and that the audience experience is everything that counts.
When I was 27, I met the love of my life and got married at 28. My wife is my compass and she helps me focus on what’s important to me.
I founded Zendyll Music in 2016 and grew it into the music agency it is today; creating online content, concerts and recording music for artists across genres. It’s the community we built that keeps me motivated and pursuing what I do today.
What impact have you made in Singapore?
I’d like to believe that my contribution has made a community of music artists believe that pursuing a professional career in music is possible.
What does 2022 look like for you?
More travels to learn from other cities and cultures, as well as holding more events and concerts that allow people to feel connected and happy again. I’m also getting more involved with Web3 products such as NFTs and curating some events for it too.
What do you love most about Singapore?
Being a young country, the sky is the limit.
Tell us about the coolest performance you’ve ever seen.
The coolest performance has to be K-pop band Big Bang when I watched them in 2016. Amazing visuals, amazing performance and the fans were electric.
Who is your Local Legend, and why?
My local legend is Lee Kuan Yew. I can only imagine how difficult it was for him to lead a country back then, and doing what he had to do.
