Co-founder and co-artistic director of Pangdemonium

I screwed up my A-Levels sufficiently to rule out getting a proper job, and I asked myself what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. The answer was 'prance around on stage in cosplay'.
Tell us your story, how did you get here?
I screwed up my A-Levels sufficiently to rule out getting a proper job, and I asked myself what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. The answer was “prance around on stage in cosplay”. 30 years later, I’m somehow still being paid to do it.
What impact have you made in Singapore?
My dreadful spoken Mandarin on local TV, and Pangdemonium, the theatre company I founded together with my wife Tracie, which I am fiercely proud of.
What does 2022 look like for you?
2022 is already shaping up to be insanely busy with Pangdemonium, and also with a big show which will either bring me a lot of joy and fulfilment (or more likely drive me to an early grave). I could tell you what it is, but I’d have to drag you into the grave with me.
What do you love most about Singapore?
Our infantile sense of humour. For someone like me with a stunted maturity, that’s a plus.
Tell us about the coolest performance you’ve ever seen.
Nikki Muller in Pangdemonium’s 2021 one-woman play “Girls and Boys”. Nikki’s performance was funny, fierce and devastating. Nikki Muller is the BEST actress we have here – there, I said it.
Who is your Local Legend, and why?
Frecklesais. They curate and retail specialist vintage clothing and accessories. Stylish, sexy and one of Singapore’s best kept secrets.
