Whether first thing in the morning, or paired with a gourmet spread mid-afternoon, or even to while away when a typhoon is raging outside, nothing beats a nice, comforting cup of tea – and Tatiana Pudwill thinks the same. A tea enthusiast, Tatiana founded Time for Tea in 2022 as a brand borne from her deep love of tea and its elegant rituals. Read on to find out more about Time for Tea and Tatiana’s personal recommendations on teas and tableware, plus how to turn teatime into a daily treat.
Hi, Tatiana! Thank you for speaking with us. How did Time for Tea come into being?
I grew up drinking tea, back at home in Eastern Europe where tea is an essential part of our culture. My husband and I also share a passion for tea, and brewing that first pot of the day has become a shared ritual for us.
Then came the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the social distancing regulations, I began hosting private afternoon tea sessions at home for my closest friends. We would unwind and socialise in a warm, intimate atmosphere while drinking tea. These moments of connection inspired me to create Time for Tea, so that I could share my passion for tea with others that craved comfort in an uncertain world.
What do you love the most about tea?
From choosing the blend to warming the pot, to infusing the leaves, then finally pouring and savouring the tea… The unhurried nature of tea-drinking is what I love the most about tea. It’s the perfect antidote to the frenetic pace of our everyday lives in this busy city. To allow you to indulge in this art of “slowing down” and mindfully appreciate the ritual of tea-drinking, we at Time for Tea source and curate the finest loose-leaf teas, tea pots, and tableware from around the world. I hope we can help everyone find their own calm and clarity via their cup of tea.
What’s your favourite blend at Time for Tea?
Having been lucky to experience different memorable tea rituals around the world, I’ve pulled together many of these experiences from my travels into a selection of products that I think represents the essence of tea culture. Time for Tea headlines an exclusive range of teas, with our current curation of organic loose-leaf teas sourced from an expert blender in Germany. My personal favourite is the special blend Earl Grey – we start with at least one pot of it alongside our breakfast everyday. I also have a soft spot for our Fasting Tea. It is so clean and provides the feeling of substance through the distinctive flavours. Our other teas include English Breakfast, Fresh Mint, Ginger Turmeric, Caramel Cream, and Miss Grey.
How about teaware – do you have a personal pick?
We’re the exclusive Hong Kong distributor of Mono teapots from Germany. My husband has been using one for over 20 years. In my opinion, not only does the Mono teapot make a gorgeous centrepiece, it’s also the best tool to brew the perfect pot of tea. This is because the leaves can be completely immersed in the water, and the tea can stay hot with the candle flickering underneath the pot. To ensure the longevity and sustainability of Mono teapots, we stock replacement glass bowls, strainer caddies, and cleaning mesh for easy maintenance.
In addition, Time for Tea offers bone china teacups and plates, runners, placemats, table linens, napkin rings, and even candles – all in complementary shades and designs. We hope to be the ultimate one-stop shop for tea and beautiful tablescapes that can elevate everyone’s teatime!
