The largest Hong Kong book fair is only here for one week, you don’t wanna miss out on that
If you’re bookworms like us at Honeycombers, then you must be pumped to hear the news that from 18 – 24 July, Hong Kong Book Fair 2018 will take place at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. Whether you’re looking for cool graphic novels or books for holiday reading, there will be something for you. So what are you waiting for?
Hong Kong Book Fair 2018

As the biggest event for book lovers in Hong Kong, the 29th edition of Hong Kong Book Fair features a wide range of major exhibit categories, including books and publications, children’s and teen’s books, religious and spirituality books, stationery and art products, e-Books resources and other multimedia products. Other than the academic stuff, in my opinion, it’s one of the best chances to discover more local illustrators and cartoonists. 😉
Theme of the year: Romance Literature
Under the theme of Reading the World • What on Earth is Love?, Hong Kong Book Fair 2018 is hosting over 300 events. With the theme of the year being Romance Literature, the fair aims to showcase the works of foreign and Chinese authors who have turned their wonderful sentiment into classic literature – how lovely.
And for those of you who wish to learn more about the literature scene in Hong Kong, the Love between the Lines zone will also be set up at the Art Gallery of Hong Kong Book Fair 2018 to introduce ten local authors, such as Eileen Chang, Xu Su, Yi Su, Eunice Lam and more.
Events and forums at Hong Kong Book Fair 2018
There are a great number of events (conducted in English, French or Putonghua) happening if you want to do more than just browsing and shopping for books at the fair. Some of the few that are on our radar include: Romance Along The Silver Way: Baroque Love Poetry And Prose From The Spanish-speaking World happening on 18 July, Israel and China: from the Tang Dynasty to Silicon Wadi on 19 July, The Power Of Women In The 18th Century on 20 July and Ponti: Movies, Malay Myths and Local Monsters on 21 July.
Open from 10am to 10pm daily (and till midnight on a Friday night!), you can get cultured and idle away your time happily with your friends – either way, it’s only $25 per ticket.
