Designed by Hong Kong designer and Founder of Daydreamers Design, Stanley Siu, the Swire Properties Lounge, Cumulus, is a free-flowing space illustrative of the dynamic and energetic activities that will be hosted within. Cumulus will serve as the venue for the much-anticipated Swire Properties Dialogue Series, and the lounge has been designed with the exchange of ideas and the generation of a growing dialogue as a focal inspiration. Siu is an advocate of nurturing the relationship between public spaces and communities, and the role pavilions can have in generating conversation. In this latest project Siu uses 31 layers of fabric to create a roof for the lounge that allows a constantly changing interaction between light and space. Drawing in both scale and grandeur, while synthesizing the surrounding environment to increase junction and interaction, the lounge is positioned to become a focal point at Art Basel in Hong Kong.
Speakers confirmed for the Dialogue series include Angela Mackay (Managing Director, Asia Pacific, FT), Conrad Shawcross (British artist), Daan Roosegaarde (Dutch artist and innovator), Iwan Wirth (President, Hauser & Wirth), Jessica Klingelfuss (Digital Associate Editor, Wallpaper* Magazine), Jim Lambie (British Artist), Kingsley Ng (Artist), Magnus Renfrew (Cultural Advisor), Maria Wong (Managing Director, HK walls), Michael Xufu Huang (Co-Founder, M WOODS Museum), Nicholas Baume (Director and Chief Curator, Public Art Fund), Ole Sheeran (Architect OMA), Philip Tinari, (Director, Ullens Center for Contemporary Art), Remi Rough (British artist), Suhanya Raffel (Executive Director, M+), Tim Marlow (Artistic Director, Royal Academy of Arts)
