From film to digital, from cameras to smartphones, from darkroom development to inkjet printing… Despite the revolutionary changes in photography and printing methods over the past few decades, photographers’ demands for image presentation have remained unchanged.
The exhibition Latency & Visibility – A 30-Year Journey with Hong Kong Photographers, co-curated by Chief Curator So Hing Keung and Curator Judith Siu, invites 30 Hong Kong photographers and artists to showcase their unique interpretations of the world through images. Each photographer is presenting one representative work and one lesser-known piece, demonstrating the diverse creative styles of different generations of photographers who have witnessed the development and changes within Hong Kong’s photography scene.
With the themes of “latency” and “visibility”, an outstanding photograph not only presents a visible image, but often allows the photographer’s intentions concealed within the work to emerge. In this exhibition, the organiser uses professional printing techniques and various materials to showcase the photographers’ dedicated works. Through the unique perspectives of these 30 photographers, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the constructed world of images, while gaining deeper appreciation for the professionalism and passion behind artistic printing.
This exhibition is organised by Excellent Colour Limited and co-presented with venue partner Wyndham Social.
