From 18 March to 14 April, visitors at Pacific Place will find themselves in the delightfully weird and wonderful “LUMENous GARDEN”, a large-scale participatory artwork created by FoldHaus.
Debuting in Asia, the festival’s quintessential spirit of participation and intrigue will be transplanted in Hong Kong. Two of FoldHaus’ signature kinetic sculpture works, SHRUMEN LUMEN and BLUMEN LUMEN, are being brought together for the first time, exclusively for Pacific Place, which promises an interactive and immersive experience.
SHRUMEN LUMEN are two large origami mushrooms, which gently expand and contract in response to people stepping on the footpads located beneath the sculptures. BLUMEN LUMEN, on the other hand, is a giant origami flower sculpture that towers high above human heads. As shoppers pass by, the flower opens and closes and gently sways. With thousands of embedded LEDs glowing through the translucent outer skin of each piece, the whole effect promises to be spectacular.
