When Ella’s mother dies, she is brought up by her devoted and loving father who teaches her the names and calls of the woodland birds that surround their home. But when her father marries again, Ella’s peaceful life is turned upside down by a host of new and unpleasant relations. When Ella’s father never returns home after the war, it appears her only allies are the feathered friends who roost in the trees and these magical birds take on the role of Ella’s Fairy Godmothers…
With this fresh, more modern re-telling of the classic Cinderella story, gone are the transforming party frocks and typical “princess-like” ball attire. Instead, Faust International Youth Theatre features a fresh-faced Ella with a fire in her belly to do good. By-pass the pumpkin and the glass slipper, and focus instead on the simple things in life that Ella values so dearly – a basic pair of cloth pumps that are a thousand times more precious to her than heels studded with bling.
Full of wonderful music and moments of humour, Faust’s modern day re-telling of Cinderella is a lovely, simple story that will capture the very heart of audiences young and old. The production features Faust International Youth Theatre’s young members (aged 8 to 18), who will bring you on a magical journey, reminding you that where there is kindness, there is goodness, and where there is goodness, there is… magic!
