Kowloon City, named one of “The Coolest Neighbourhoods in the World for 2024” by Time Out, boasts a unique historical and cultural background that has created a distinctive community atmosphere. In the past, the historic site of the famous “Sung Wong Toi” boulder was once a gathering place for scholars and literati. That legacy continues today through the excellent primary schools of School Net 41. Today, Kowloon City has transformed itself into a vibrant community that blends diverse culinary delights and stylish cafes.
New World Development is passionate about the heritage of the neighbourhoods and always pursues for future prospective. In this instance it happens to share the same spirit as the multicultural trendsetting Kowloon City. Driven by the opening of the Sung Wong Toi MTR Station, the world-class multi-purpose sports and entertainment complex at Kai Tak Sports Park, and other lifestyle and leisure developments, Kowloon City’s neighbourhood is undergoing a new wave of transformation that has attracted many distinctive shops and unique restaurants.
Now, with New World Development’s stylish “BOHEMIAN COLLECTION,” of brand-new residences, Kowloon City will become an absolute home for a new generation of elite urban bohemians who value freedom, seek life’s pleasures, and love culture and art.
Discover your muse in cool Kowloon City
Bohemians are urban elites who refuse to conform to the ordinary and love exploring history and culture while seeking a refined lifestyle. To enable the new generation of bohemians and the general public to discover Kowloon City’s unique ambience and connect with other like-minded people, New World Development has partnered with the cultural enterprise “Walk in Hong Kong” to organise the MUSE WALK Culture Tour – a free historical and cultural guided tour – in early September.
Explore historic sites and unique shops and discover Kowloon City’s charm
Participants will be guided by curators to explore the streets and hidden alleys of Kowloon City and discover a variety of unique shops and places that have witnessed the area’s changes and soak up the charm of a neighbourhood that rivals Seoul’s Seongsu-dong or Perth’s Northbridge.
The walk begins at the district’s most famous historical site, Kowloon Walled City Park, before visiting a variety of long-standing establishments and shops that have undergone vibrant revitalisations. These include Kwai Yue Zai cake shop, a witness to Kowloon City’s Chiuchow food culture; Kung Wo Tong, a century-old herbal tea shop; Ming Heung Tea Co., a famous spot for Hong Kong souvenirs in the 1970s and 80s; and Tai Wo Tang Cafe, a popular and stylish cafe transformed from a Chinese medicine shop.
