Returning for its seventh year, TEDxUbud is coming back to Bali this May for yet another inspiring, intriguing and innovative debate-led event - this time with a “Seen/Unseen” theme.
Dragon’s blood, Balinese beliefs and a bamboo whale installation. TEDxUbud is returning to Bali for its seventh edition this May 2018, and with a theme that explores the seen and unseen, this year is set to be bigger, better, and even more weird and wonderful than ever before…
Taking place on Saturday 5th May, TEDxUbud 2018 will be bringing a sensational lineup of inspirational, thought-provoking and all-round awesome speakers to Bali. And, after the success of last year’s first nighttime event, TEDxUbud 2018 will once again be stepping into the darkness for a magical and mystical twilight experience at a brand new venue, the Njana Tilem Museum – a stunning museum dedicated to preserving the art of Balinese woodcarving.
This year’s “Seen/Unseen” theme is a nod to the colourful world of ceremonies, rituals, dance, and drama that we see every day here on the island, alongside the spiritual forces, rites and beliefs that we can’t see – the unknown if you will. Well, in true TEDx style, this year’s event will be delving into exactly that: the unknown. Different minds, speakers and performers will come together to discuss, examine and unite fascinating concepts. Expect to come face-to-face with hidden forces that shape our world, get ready to explore what’s under the surface of art, and prepare to dive into the idea of secret powers, both physical and spiritual.
These talk-provoking topics will be covered by a number of speakers, including one of Bali’s most inspiring female chefs, a chemist researching the powers of Komodo Dragon blood, a cultural anthropologist who’s combining modern conservation strategies with the belief systems of the Bajau people, a visual artist who believes that art can lead to social change, Bali’s musical Einstein, a theatrical piece performed on a massive bamboo whale installation – and so many more. You can check out the full lineup of TEDxUbud 2018 speakers and performers here.
