Luxe oceanfront vibes, award-winning dining and the longest Sunday brunch on the island - here are just 7 reasons why we love Sundara Beach Club
Insert a loooong and leisurely satisfied sigh *here*. We’ve just spent an entire day at Sundara Beach Club, and what a tropical treat it’s been. Not only did we soak up the sunshine and the sparkling sea views at this Bali beachfront icon, we also lapped up all that this elegant and upscale destination has to offer, which FYI, is enough oceanfront indulgence to knock your sandals off.
You see, Sundara Beach Club is one of Bali’s elite sunshine destinations, blessed with beachside luxuries at every turn. Look out to the immaculate horizon and you’ll see Sundara’s glittering 57-metre infinity pool trickling towards the talc-like sands of Jimbaran Bay. Cast your gaze inside, and it’s a sophisticated vista of refined interiors flowing seamlessly to outdoor lotus ponds, elegant lounges and crisp-white poolside double daybeds. You won’t find any pumping house music here, nor any rowdy beach club parties – only a chic beachfront perch that nails the luxe Bali vibe.
But honestly? That’s just the beginning of the Sundara Beach Club experience. From its award-winning dining and designer cocktails, to Bali’s longest Sunday brunch and day-to-night experiences, here are 7 reasons why we love Sundara Beach Club – and you will too!
That Infinity Pool…
One of the first things you see when you step inside Sundara Beach Club (other than the sparkling ocean and the sublimely stylish interiors), the show-stopping 57-meter infinity pool is an obvious place to start our list of Sundara loves. The longest beachfront pool in Bali, this iconic watering hole is both breathtaking and perfectly private. On one end, couples can cosy up in the elegant double daybeds, sip on avant-garde cocktails and feel spoilt by poolside treats (like cold coconuts and sunglass-cleaning services!) while at the other end, families can splish, splash or run amok in the neighbouring kids club, which is conveniently placed poolside for mums and dads soaking up the sun.
The Poolside Kids Club
This might just be Bali’s most beautiful spot for a Kids Club, Sitting directly behind the infinity pool just metres away from the ocean, Sundara’s Kids Club makes this beachfront destination oh-so family-friendly. Fully-staffed and air-conditioned, the offspring can be offloaded here where they’ll be kept well and truly occupied with fun, games and activities – all the while, mums and dads can enjoy some alone time in the beachfront gazebos or poolside daybeds.
The Longest Brunch in Bali
With the sun shining and the weather sweet, there really is no better place to settle in for a chilled and sultry Sunday. At Sundara – home to the longest brunch on the island – you can bask in the refined oceanfront atmosphere while grazing for six whole hours on unlimited a la carte modern-Asian creations. Hot, cold, sweet or savoury, there’s plenty to choose from – complemented perfectly by live music, the Kids Club for the little ones, and a sensational drinks list. Psst – Sundara’s daily happy hours begin right as brunch comes to a close, so there’s no need to head home if you’re tempted to continue the indulgence!
Those Daily Happy Hours
Did someone say daily happy hours? Heck yes we did. And more importantly, we’re talking daily happy hours accompanied by front-row sunset seats and the sound of the nearby lapping waves – because there’s no better way to finish a perfect day in paradise. Nailing that end-of-day feeling, from 5pm – 7pm each evening the potent Sundara Sundowners are 2-for-1, including the Wasabi Martini (our sure-fire winner) and the signature Bloom of Sundara – a tropical masterpiece made with vodka, lemon and passionfruit. Then, as the sun goes down and dinner beckons, live bands step up to the beachfront stage. Sundara has hand-picked 6 of Bali’s best live acts to perform 6 times a week, adding another layer of rhythm to the ocean’s natural melody. Cheers!
The Award-Winning Dinners
It’s no secret that Sundara Beach Club has perfected the culinary art of poolside grazing, but what you may not know is that this daytime destination comes to life at night too, dishing up modern Asian-inspired cuisine in the most sultry of settings. A date night extraordinaire, the food here celebrates local Balinese produce, fresh Jimbaran seafood and regional flavours, served up with five-star precision (Sundara is part of Four Seasons Bali, so you’re getting the best of the best here).
You can choose from three different serving sizes, meaning you can order a selection of small taster plates to share, or a banquet of small or large courses for groups and families. Our faves include the Crab & Coconut with Asian herbs, grated coconut and a lime-palm sugar dressing (the salad is tossed tableside for a touch of interactive entertainment!) and Executive Pastry Chef Yusuke Aoki’s world-class “Samurai” chocolate dessert – the winning creation at the Valrhona C3 competition in New York in 2018.
The Cool New Cocktail Concept
Turns out, there’s more than one way to take a history lesson. At Sundara, you can earn a qualification in cocktail history by sipping your way through a lesson on libations! Each cocktail course takes you through different Indonesian eras and graduation levels: earn a Diploma by sipping on four different cocktails, or a Masters Degree when you add one tapas plate to each drink.
This unique concept is inspired by Indonesia’s rich history, taking you from ancient times to the Spice Wars and finally to Indonesia’s Independence. Each era influences what goes into the glass, whether it’s the spices or fruits from that time, or the traditions that were honoured and celebrated. Try the house-infused pure arak (a preferred tipple in local villages today) or discover imported liquors and flavours introduced by the Portuguese, Dutch, Spanish and Japanese. Now that’s our kind of history lesson…
The VIP Boarding Lounge Experience
So, the time has come to bid farewell to your Bali break, but you’re not ready to pack up your bikini? We hear you, and so does Sundara Beach Club. So to help you make the most of your last day in paradise, Sundara’s VIP Boarding Lounge Experience lets you linger and lounge a little longer.
While you’re waiting for your late flight home, simply show your boarding pass to the staff and you’ll receive discounts on food, beverage and spa spends, a complimentary daybed after midday, luggage storage and complimentary poolside amenities so you can continue soaking up the premium service and beach views beside the dazzling infinity pool. No airline lounge can ever match that…
