Ever heard of The Great Pyramids of Bali? We hadn’t either, until we stumbled upon Pyramids of Chi in Ubud...
When you picture the pyramids of Ancient Egypt, thoughts of dry, flat land and reddish-yellow hues spring to mind. Now imagine these iconic and legendary structures in the heart of Ubud’s lush and rolling green landscapes. You’d think they’d stick out like a sore thumb, right? Well, it turns out that’s not the case…
Pyramids of Chi is Ubud’s most remarkable wellness centre that has managed to replicate The Great Pyramid of Giza with two large-scale pyramids, turning these towering wonders into a place of sound healing and breath meditation. With flowering frangipani all around and the gentle ripples of garden ponds fringing the pyramid walls, these celestial structures look right at home in their tranquil, Ubud setting.
And while it might seem a little OTT to build these two towering structures (pyramid building ain’t easy – just ask the Egyptians), it actually makes perfect sense. Built for total relaxation and healing, Pyramids of Chi has managed to replicate the now-recognised ‘Pyramid Power’ through design and alignment. They’ve brought together an awesome combination of ancient sounds, sacred design, magnetic positioning, water presence and the unmistakable energy that already exists in Bali.
So, how does it work?
To get the most out of the sound healing experience, certain sound frequencies are generated from ancient instruments played inside the pyramids, such as enormous gongs, large pow wow drums, Himalayan bowls and the didgeridoo.
When these instruments were originally created way back when, they were developed not for their musical qualities, but as tools for healing. Well, it turns out they still serve to work wonders today. Sound has long been recognised as one of the least used methods for healing, yet often one of the most successful ways to rebalance and harmonise our inner health.
Each of Pyramid of Chi’s pyramids offer different experiences; the Pyramid of the Sun focuses on sound-only healing, while the Pyramid of the Moon is devoted to ‘Sound & Breath Therapy’, which also incorporates a kind of breath meditation that’ll leave you in a state of complete bliss.
