Hungry for a taste of Cantonese and Szechuan cuisine? You’ll want to book a table at Lion X – the modern Chinese restaurant at Renaissance Bali Nusa Dua Resort that’s inspired by the culture of lion dancing. Step through the doors of this hot new restaurant and you’ll find lion murals, contemporary Chinese decor and interiors drenched in green and red. But that’s just the beginning. The true star of the show is the menu of Cantonese and Szechuan dishes, all given distinctive modern twists…
Expect a variety of flavours, spices and spectacular presentations – served piping hot and designed for sharing. Yep, if you think Chinese food is just homey comfort food, you’ll want to think again, because Lion X is set to give you the best of both worlds: the comfort of familiar oriental flavours, combined with contemporary interpretations. From the family-friendly dim sum brunch to a classy intimate dinner for special occasions, here’s why we’ll be coming back for more…
You’ll love it because… Lion X serves up not-just-any Chinese cuisine (flying noodles, anyone?!). Inspired by the Lion Dance and all the fortune it brings, here you’ll find artsy decor and murals, splashes of green and red that represent good luck and wealth, plus indoor and outdoor seating for different occasions. As for the menu, the restaurant perfectly marries the authentic flavours of Canton and Szechuan, jazzed up by modern techniques and presentation, courtesy of Chef Alex Kuan and his kitchen team. It’s traditional yet modern, presenting a signature culinary experience unlike anything else around.
You’ll want to try the… premium delicacies and creative signature dishes. With a menu that caters to all kinds of foodies, there’s something for everyone at Lion X. Start with the steamed prawn dumplings swimming in spicy Szechuan Mala sauce, and the crispy prawn cake with fresh seasonal fruit that’s perfectly salty and sweet. For those with a classic taste, you’ll be happy to know that steamed whole fish with ginger, scallion and soy sauce is on the menu, best paired with the Flying Crispy Noodles in Cantonese-style egg gravy. Looking for dinner and a show? Try the Signature 8 Treasure Flamed Chicken braised in flavoured clay and flamed table-side by the chef himself. And if you want to impress a date, try the premium braised Australian abalone and seasonal veggies, topped with edible gold and flowers…
Come back for the… tea party! Lion X’s cool and cosy atmosphere sets the scene for a casual gathering of friends and family, mingling over a bountiful Chinese feast and colourful Hong Kong dim sum. You’ll also find more intimate tables and a closed dining room if you’re looking for more privacy. And with a space that accommodates up to 114 diners, it’s also a perfect spot for a sophisticated soirée and Chinese tea party. In fact, you’ll want to look out for the bar’s selection of Kung Fu Tea in a pot, like the Canton Tea Party with Yanghe and Fernet-Branca, and a mixture of Oolong tea, Gong Xi, toasted sesame and elderflower syrup… it is indeed a party in a tea pot!
