Looking for something a little different for your next Bali vacay? Try this technicoloured boutique stay, where art, industrialism and upside-down red rabbits collide.
Ever browsed Bali’s never-ending catalog of hotels and private villas and felt a little underwhelmed? A simple whitewashed bedroom here. An eggshell-tiled bathroom there, and maybe even the same bamboo furnishings dotted all around? Well, you’re not alone. We hear ya.
So that’s why we decided to go against the grain this time round – to take a leap of faith and not follow the crowds. Instead, we followed an upside-down red bunny down a rabbit hole to a multicolored realm unlike any other. Don’t worry, we haven’t lost our marbles – yet…

Down the rabbit hole…
The rabbit we followed was Dash Hotel’s “mascot” if you will. And Dash Hotel is Seminyak’s totally quirky, artsy and wonderfully weird boutique hotel that’s stolen our hearts, and perhaps our minds.
If you hadn’t heard of Dash Hotel before, no doubt you’ve seen it. It stands boldly on the hip Petitenget strip, bursting with technicoloured red, yellow and blue accents, either from the painted concrete beams and structures, or the human-sized mannequins peering over the balconies like a Superman frat party. It’s wildly retro, a tad bit Banksy and a whole lotta urban industrialism – and that’s just on the outside.
Step into the rabbit hole and the wonderful weirdness of Dash Hotel continues. There’s pop art on one wall, crude red bricks on another and an upside-down bunny rabbit statue plonked right in the middle. And forget the conventional blue twinkle of a hotel pool – this one’s suitably tiled in letterbox red, fringed by vibrant, neon lounges and overlooked by the tower of rooms above. And what awesome rooms they are…

Room Types: Glam & Grit
Split into three categories [dash STUDIO, dash DELUXE and dash TWO] the rooms here mix glam and grit. There’s raw iron headboards, concrete walls, grafitti artwork and industrial-chic lighting, softened by all of the glamorous touches you’d expect from a stylish Seminyak stay. We’re talking rich terry cloth towels, kimonos, slippers, house-branded beauty products and insanely comfy beds with 400 thread count cotton linens – bliss!
You see, just because Dash Hotel breaks all the rules when it comes to Bali’s typical hotel interiors, the services and the experiences curated are right up there with the big names. There’s the luxe Rabbit Hole Spa that uses mostly all-natural ingredients; an exclusive rooftop bar – The Shack – which oozes Tiki trendiness; and there’s even the DASHOPPE retail space selling cool apparels and jewellery to Seminyak’s cool kids…

MYA Kitchen & Cocktails
It’s hungry work chasing that red rabbit around, so Dash Hotel is also home to a swanky 24-hour restaurant that’s open to the public, too. MYA Kitchen & Cocktails dishes up Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, Indian, Burmese and Balinese cuisine, inspired by Asia’s street food scene. Each dish is designed to be shared, sampled, passed around and consumed with impulse and informality – best enjoyed with MYA’s grown-up cocktails that’ll have you hopping in no time…
The Verdict
The bright colours, the wild art and the out-of-Bali vibe might not be for everyone – we get it. But if you’re after a slightly psychedelic, really radical and totally unique stay in Bali, then Dash Hotel is it. It’s a place for millenials to let loose whilst partying in Seminyak [before an Eat, Pray, Love experience in Ubud, of course] without having to worry about upsetting the neighbours – all the while enjoying a few luxe touches that we all need on our holidays, no matter our age or preference. Cuddly red rabbit included.
