The 9 Best Villas In Ubud
1. Ubud Zen River House
Immersive riverside retreat with glass walls, yoga deck and jungle-view plunge pool.

When something as gorgeous as Ubud Zen River House popped up on my Instagram feed, I had to go see it for myself. It stands right in the midst of lush greenery, so you can reconnect with nature. My journey to Zen began with a hike up a 50-flight stairway. Then, the sunrays coming through the floor-to-ceiling glass walls welcomed me to this cosy home. You may be fooled by its size, but it’s got everything you need. A spacious living room, a kitchen, a bathroom with a natural stone tub, a walk-in closet, and even a hidden queen-sized bed to accommodate a group of four guests.
Enjoy the lazy days tucked in the plush bed with a good book, or head outside to the yoga deck for a breezy session. I went for a relaxing stroll through the private path that led down to the nearby river! It’s no wonder that our Honeycombers readers voted Ubud Zen River House “Bali’s Best Villa” two years running.

Find simple living at its best at Zen Hideaway. This world-renowned private getaway is a collection of huts built with 150-year old teak wood and thatched roofs, which offer a taste of village life. But when I visited this humble abode, I was pleasantly surprised by the Japanese wabi-sabi interiors that gave it a touch of elegance. Each hut comes with an open-plan living area and dining space, a fully-equipped kitchen, as well as hammocks and hanging daybeds. But my favourite nook had to be the spider web net. From there, I could lose myself in the uninterrupted views of rice fields, the nearby waterfall and the majestic Mount Agung.
