Tell us the story behind your business.
I am a lifelong learner deeply passionate about and inspired by nature’s boundless wisdom. Like many women, I’ve navigated the transformative phases of perimenopause and menopause. In my search for answers to ease these life stages, I studied natural skincare formulation, exploring how nature can holistically and sustainably support our well-being.
With a vision to redefine ageing as a chapter of empowerment and self-love rather than a period of decline, Miseico was born. More than just products, Miseico is a pro-age beauty and wellness brand that pioneers sustainable, science-backed beauty and wellness solutions. We embrace where pro-age meets wellness, a testament to the belief that age mirrors wisdom, experience, and the beauty of evolution. We champion each individual’s journey, encouraging them to embrace life’s stages with grace, confidence, and a commitment to holistic well-being.
What are some milestones or achievements you’re most proud of?
We’re grateful that Miseico has achieved remarkable milestones since its founding in August 2020, garnering recognition through features in reputable media. We take pride in winning local and global beauty awards – a testament to the excellence of our products.
However, our greatest achievements lie in the heartfelt testimonials from customers whose skin and wellness concerns we’ve successfully addressed. Committed to innovation and inclusivity, we bring cutting-edge, inclusive products to our diverse customer base. Our dedication to sustainability is evident in our practice of planting a tree with every order, and we are proudly Peta-certified vegan and cruelty-free.
Share with us a setback that taught you a valuable lesson about running a business.
A significant setback in our journey was the initial challenge of gaining traction in a saturated market, especially as a niche brand. This hurdle taught us the crucial lesson of persistence and adaptability within a specialised space.
We learned to refine our strategy, better understand our audience, and consistently deliver unique value with results-driven products. This experience empowered us to turn obstacles into opportunities, positioning ourselves effectively within the niche market and establishing a strong and dedicated community.
Describe a typical day in your life and what you love most about it.
A typical day involves creative research and development, key goal objectives, and engaging with our amazing community. What I love most is witnessing the positive impact our products have on our customers, fostering confidence and well-being.
I cherish my morning walks in nature with my dogs – a ritual that brings balance and inspiration to each day. I kickstart my day early, seizing the opportunity for a head start. My morning wake-up call is the sweet symphony of chirping birds. Embracing a holistic approach to life, I prioritise a positive mindset, exercise, a nourishing diet, and a consistent sleep schedule.
What’s your favourite book, movie, or TV show that has influenced your entrepreneurial mindset?
My entrepreneurial mindset has been profoundly influenced by “The Lean Startup” by Eric Ries. This book revolutionised my approach to business, emphasising the importance of continuous innovation, adaptability, and customer feedback. It guided me to build a company that values efficiency, minimises waste, and prioritises learning and evolution.
The documentary series “Abstract: The Art of Design” has also been a source of inspiration. It showcases the power of creativity and design thinking in various fields, motivating me to infuse innovation and thoughtful design into every aspect of Miseico. These influential works have shaped my commitment to a dynamic, customer-centric, and creatively driven business philosophy.
Any advice for aspiring entrepreneurs?
My key tip is to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. Each obstacle you encounter is a chance to learn, adapt, and improve. Be open to feedback, stay curious, and constantly seek ways to innovate. Surround yourself with a supportive network of mentors, advisors, and like-minded individuals who can offer guidance and encouragement.
Don’t fear failure. Instead, view it as a stepping stone toward success. Cultivate resilience, stay true to your vision, and prioritise passion and purpose in your entrepreneurial journey. The most rewarding ventures often arise from navigating and overcoming challenges with determination and a positive mindset.
Top tip for maintaining a good work-life balance?
Establish clear boundaries between work and personal time. Prioritise self-care, whether it’s taking short breaks, enjoying hobbies, or spending quality time with loved ones. Learn to disconnect from work-related devices during non-working hours to recharge and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
Favourite thing to do on weekends?
I indulge in self-care rituals, whether it’s a calming skincare and bath routine, mindfulness practice, or simply savouring leisurely moments with loved ones. I also prioritise moments of relaxation and rejuvenation to recharge for the upcoming week.
Tell us one fun fact about yourself that not many people know.
Indulging in good food and wine is my not-so-secret pleasure, reflecting my passion as an avid foodie and wine enthusiast. Exploring diverse cuisines and skilfully pairing them with fine wines brings me immense joy. They add a flavourful and experiential dimension to my life.
