Shopping for unique books, furniture, fashion and art has never been easier; the new store, gallery and co-working space features vendors like BooksActually, GoodStuph, Supermama and more
There’s no fixed design when it comes to the design trade; artists and designers can choose to enter the retail industry to showcase the fruits of their labour. But due to the volatility and rapid momentum the industry endures, this isn’t always a cakewalk for them. Encouraging this unfettered freedom of expression to flourish, however, is what’s deemed a “Noah’s Ark” for Singapore’s art and design scene – the K+ Curatorial Space at Scotts Square. And indeed, launched at the beginning of this month, this hub seems to be keeping the dreams of these designers afloat.

Comprising three sections, K+ Curatorial Space – curated by Kinetic Singapore, a boutique design, advertising and interactive agency, and hosted by Scotts Square – is a nascent, hip nexus for shopping, art, and collaboration. Its first arm, K+ Retail, assembles the aesthetics of six principal collaborators; spoil yourself with lifestyle products, literature, furniture and apparel from BooksActually, GoodStuph, Pomelo, Supermama, Tofu Design and Kinetic. And true to its “Noah’s Ark” ideology, it even gives smaller retailers a chance to exhibit their wares without requiring them to undertake the burden of the financial red tape. How noble is that, eh?

Its other two sections include K+ Community – a co-working space for creatives and exhibition space for local art schools and associations (expect pop-up bazaars here) – and K+ Gallery for seasonal residencies featuring guest curators. Until 14 August, local furniture designer, Nathan Yong, takes the wheel with visually-alluring pieces from his eponymous label, playfully straddling the line between function and form. After that, you can even bag one of these beauts home, as they’ll be sold exclusively at K+ Curatorial Space until February 2017. Did we hear you call dibs?

All that’s left is for you to show your support. Don’t expect any run-of-the-mill shopping experience here; enhance your lifestyle with these quirky treasures, and seize some design inspo from these stimulating surroundings while you’re at it. Now that you can find them all in one place, you don’t have an excuse to miss out, do you?
