Yasss, Design Orchard is a goldmine of local talent and chances are you won't leave empty handed!
While we’re barely getting used to saying ‘January 2019′, Orchard Road has been making major headlines this year – first for the blanket smoking ban (yay) and then for its newest development (double yay). Opening doors on 25 January 2019 is Design Orchard – Singapore’s very own mecca featuring 61 homegrown labels.
It’s a hot spot for the best designs the little red dot has to offer. The two and a half storey building is home to a retail space, incubation centres for design startups and even has a rooftop amphitheatre. This joint effort between Enterprise Singapore, JTC and Singapore Tourism Board (STB) aims to support emerging local talent and prep them to take their products global.
It’s t.h.e place to #ShopLocal in Singapore
Naiise will run the retail section so you can expect one thing – a whole lotta amazing curated local designs. Well, 61 homegrown labels to be exact (as of Jan 2019). It’s a good mix of fresh, emerging and established brands – we’re talking the likes of Matter, Ginlee, Esse, The Paper Bunny, Oo La Lab, Re:erth, Gnome & Bow, Pew Pew Patches, David’s Daughter and others. Consider it your one-stop-shop for locally designed fashion, wellness, food and home decor things.
Design Orchard will also be home to several incubation spaces. Naiise will host mentorship programmes for local entrepreneurs. The Textile and Fashion Federation Singapore or Taff’s incubation space for lifestyle and fashion designers will also include a co-working space for creatives.
You know we’ll be lurking around Design Orchard happily collecting treasures and soaking in the creative energy every chance we get.
