This weekend brunch at Ginett serves up modern French fare at affordable prices - think pocket-friendly oysters, grilled mains and divine desserts
Diehards of brunch in Singapore, your weekly ritual is about to get a tad more interesting. As we’ve proven time and time again with these alternative brunches (think Middle Eastern, and even the longest brunch in town), your favourite meal of the weekend doesn’t have to be an endless rotation of eggs Benedict, English breakfast and coffee. For our next Brunch to Munch, we feature a place that puts a sophisticated spin on brunch with fancy fare at Ginett: an affordable French restaurant that’s the talk of the town.
Let’s get down to business. For elevated takes on your average egg dishes, order up the smoked salmon egg cocotte ($11++) served with crispy toast, or poached eggs and merguez ($12++) which is inspired by the Mediterranean with its lamb sausages, as well as dollops of cumin cream and spicy tomato sauce.
But if hearty European favourites are your thing, the brunch menu’s got plenty. Kick off your meal with the 1-metre board of cheese and cold cuts ($54, good for four people), or oysters ($5 a pop!), then order up some grilled mains for sharing. Dig into the tender pork belly ($16++), served with mash potatoes and Chimichurri sauce on the side, or take your pick from prime cuts, including seared la côte de boeuf ($120++), a bone-in ribeye steak for two.
Prefer to load up on carbs? Tuck into pastas ($10-$18), or order up a croque monsieur or croque madame sandwich. For the uninitiated, both feature bechamel sauce as well as ham and cheese on grilled bread. The only difference is that the latter includes a glorious sunny side up.
Satisfy your breakfast sweet tooth with banana and walnut waffles ($13++), or any of the delectable tarts and cakes available (it’s never too early for desserts). Be sure to wash it down with cold brews like The G Coffee ($11), which features Kahlua cream, Bailey’s and vanilla ice cream, and honey cinnamon iced latte ($8).
We’re not complaining about the restaurant’s seriously spiffy interiors either. Cosy communal spaces found all around the airy space are perfect for gossipy gatherings over brunch, while its high ceilings, greenery and earthy tones makes it a helluva space for Instagram snaps.
Brunch at Ginett is available from 11.30am to 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
