With a dash of practical psychology and a sprinkle of life coaching, Beata Justkowiak helps people live their best life and thrive.
We love entrepreneurs and small business owners at Honeycombers, which is why we’ve created Launchpad, a comprehensive digital networking platform (with IRL benefits, too) that encourages connection, business support and community. It’s a privilege and pleasure to learn from so many talented and inspiring folks, so we’ve decided to share the love by interviewing some of the lovely Launchpad members. Looking for inspiration? Check out how Beata Justkowiak, the most energetic psychologist and founder of Energising Goals, gets it done like a boss.
Tell us the story behind your business.
Sport psychology ignited my passion for the mind’s power, but traditional psychology felt cold and distant. I craved real-life tools that would uplift energy and connect both body and mind. So, I took the best of each, combined it with my own experiences, added extra uplifting energy, and voila! I make psychology practical and accessible for everyday people.
Witnessing overwhelm turn to action, stress to strength, and an upgrade of coping skills fuels my passion. The best part is when clients fire me – it’s proof they have all they need to thrive now, and no longer need my hand. That’s my happy dance!
What are some milestones or achievements you’re most proud of?
Facilitating a corporate leadership workshop, a client later shared, “You have amazing energy. I know you’ll change the world. It’s the first time I see people in Asia being open to emotions.” It was the collective shift, the palpable vulnerability in the room. This resonated deeply.
My mission is to take psychology out of the therapy room and empower individuals to feel and grow with radical honesty and emotional agility, believing that feeling is the bedrock of focus, healing and success. Upgrading emotion regulation skills isn’t just a technique; it’s about living life according to your rules and unlocking self-satisfaction.
I’m known as the most energetic psychologist and an Emotion Queen. All these small yet significant “a-ha” moments fuel my passion. These moments give me the energy to challenge the status quo and promote practical psychology more. Witnessing individuals unlock their emotional intelligence and claim their authentic selves – that’s my reward, my proudest achievement.
Share with us a setback that taught you a valuable lesson about running a business.
I was stuck and this led to burnout. But the problem with burnout isn’t that we aren’t trying to prevent it, or that we don’t know how. The problem is the world has turned “wellness” into another “should” on the to-do list. The problem is that nobody teaches us how to feel our feelings. Exhaustion happens when we get stuck in an emotion. Stress isn’t bad for you; being stuck is bad for you.
Burnout was a gift that led me to stand up for myself. I was exhausted and unmotivated; I didn’t want to see another “you are stronger than you know” quote. I was irritated and I used this energy to make the change happen.
I know now how to create balance daily, practice radical honesty, and redesign the stress response. Also, I’ve learned to protect my energy aggressively. I know what balance means to me at work and home, how much time I want for myself, and how much I can give to others. I’ve learnt to say no and set boundaries.
Burnout isn’t a failure; it isn’t a weakness. We all have different levels of what we can handle and how much we can cope with. If you’re feeling stuck and overwhelmed, I hear you and I’m here when you’re ready to say “enough”.
Describe a typical day in your life and what you love most about it.
Every day is an adventure for me, fuelled by variety and the desire to spark the energy. As an ex-athlete, I crave dynamic schedules, so I design my week around my energy and priorities. Mondays are for conquering admin with laser focus, paving the way for true connection during my one-on-one client sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On Thursdays, I take psychology out of the therapy room, provoking corporate minds to redesign their approach to how they think, work, exercise, and live.
Fridays are my personal playground, starting with a lot of morning movement so the mind can properly rest and recharge. Next, having the “dream big” time unleashing creativity and exploring new projects. My days are a carefully crafted dance between giving and getting, allowing me to be the queen of time optimisation.
What do I love most? Time flexibility and the fact that I smile when I wake up. I like what I do and how I spend my days.
What’s your favourite book, movie, or TV show that has influenced your entrepreneurial mindset?
Maverick’s dance with danger in Top Gun isn’t just a movie for me – it’s a manifesto. His need for speed reflects my entrepreneurial drive to push the limits, constantly innovating and defying expectations. I love it for its competitive drive, but also its adaptability and resourcefulness, tackling challenges with unconventional solutions. It gives me energy and empowers me to do more and find the right people, building a strong team where everyone plays to their strengths, overcomes self-doubts and builds up the readiness to make things happen.
Any advice for aspiring entrepreneurs?
Being an entrepreneur means embracing the unknown, navigating uncertainty, and carving your path with all the feelings attached to it. It’s not for the faint of heart, but for those who thrive on bold ideas and a burning desire to move the world.
First, challenge the status quo. Don’t be afraid to question the way things are done. Look for inefficiencies, identify unmet needs, and explore innovative solutions. Remember, groundbreaking ideas often emerge from breaking established patterns.
Trust your gut, because intuition can be a powerful tool for entrepreneurs. While it’s not a substitute for research and planning, listen to your inner voice. If something feels right, even if it challenges the norm, explore it further.
Finally, make space for your emotions so you can believe in your impact: Every entrepreneur starts with a dream, a vision of a better world. Hold onto that belief fiercely. Feel all that comes your way and don’t let it stop you. Use the energy from emotions. It’s your fuel, your motivation, and the driving force behind your journey.
Top tip for maintaining a good work-life balance?
Balance your week with energy, not a fixed schedule. High-energy times for demanding tasks, low-energy times for admin. Prioritise ruthlessly and make time for non-negotiables like exercise and hobbies. Mind training like meditation helps you disconnect and recharge. Balance is dynamic, so adjust as needed and prioritise well-being!
Favourite thing to do on weekends?
Weekends are my adrenaline fix. Ditching the routine, I crave the thrill of catching waves on my surfboard, the wind whipping through my hair as I cycle through scenic trails, or dancing to my favourite tunes. Nature is my playground, fueling my mind and body with every move. Sure, some quiet time with a good book is nice, but nothing beats the post-workout glow – that’s when my energy truly soars!
Tell us one fun fact about yourself that not many people know.
They say therapy is all stiff couches and forced tears, but not with me. As an ex-athlete turned psychologist, I bring a high-energy approach that shatters expectations. Forget the monotone diagnosis; my sessions are adventures in self-discovery, fueled by athletic energy.
Laughter? Absolutely! Exploration over explanation? Every time. I may be the most energetic shrink you’ll meet, but trust me, it’s all about helping you reach your potential with a smile (and maybe a few sweat drops, depending on the exercise). So, ditch the therapy myths and get ready for a journey like no other.
