What do we love more than cocktails? Well, fancy new cocktails to try! One of our favourite bartenders, Tom Hogan, has recently concocted a new range of handcrafted, non-conventional tipples at Anti:dote, and we can’t wait to get through the refreshed and intriguing menu.
As with all Anti:dote’s recipes, the cocktails are handcrafted with premium spirits and market-fresh ingredients, including housemade bitters, liqueurs, and flavoured sodas, as well as herbs and flowers from the bar’s very own garden. There’s a story behind every drink, which is inspired by the people that Tom met. The mad scientist-bartender’s something of a riot behind the counter; just get him to spill the beans!
The Tragedy of Tom Dooley (right) and The Dainty Man’s Attire
What stood out for us at first was The Tragedy of Tom Dooley – a whimsical, bittersweet concoction consisting of tequila, aperol, lime juice, lavender syrup, and egg white – thanks to the curious name. Seger Seelbach was lovely, too, with its beautiful blend of bourbon, hum, Peychaud’s, Angostura bitters, and Champagne. If you’re in the mood for something crisp, try the Aqua Fresca, comprising mezcal, parsley, sweet turnip syrup, lime juice, and Suze liqueur. Fans of the Brown Derby and Corpse Reviver #2, fret not, your go-to poison remain on the menu as signatures.
Carlos Montobbio, head chef of Anti:dote continues to serve his selection of delish Asian-influenced European tapas, so there’s food for the hungry (that’s us, all the time). Expect interesting new plates every two months sitting alongside mainstays like the Parmesan pizza with olive oil caviar pesto, black truffle bun with braised veal cheek, and Sully’s oysters. Each dish is priced from $8 – slurp!
No prizes for guessing where we’ll be after work.
