Because little piggies in Bali just can’t get enough of Nuri’s juicy pork ribs, this new address in the East is even bigger than before!
If you haven’t lapped up Naughty Nuri’s sticky sauce, or got a whiff of the smouldering barbecue with its fall-off-the-bone ribs, have you even been to Bali? Every foodie and carnivorous connoisseur knows the legend of Naughty Nuri’s, and for good reason, too. Smokey, sticky and oh-so succulent, Naughty Nuri’s ribs are renowned worldwide. And with queues out the door most days, Naughty Nuri’s needed just one thing: a brand new address to join the Seminyak and Ubud locations, to feed Bali’s hungry little piggies. Introducing: Naughty Nuri’s Sanur.
This new address fits the bill for Naughty Nuri’s ever-growing reputation, with an enormous indoor-outdoor dining space, a separate air-conditioned room that’s great for groups and private events, and of course, expansive parking at an easily accessible location, just off the main Sanur throughway.
Step inside the industrial-style restaurant and you’re faced with flying pigs, colourful murals, lofty ceilings and even a giant tree growing right through the heart of the main dining area. A lively sweeping bar stretches all the way to an air-conditioned private room, where glittering chandeliers are a dramatic contrast to the crude brick walls and long solid benches. But of course, the star of the show here is the Naughty Nuri’s menu, where killer ribs, twisted martinis and an entire lineup of barbecued goodness reigns supreme…
Naughty Nuri’s iconic killer ribs
Just like every other Nuri’s location, the jewel in the crown at Naughty Nuri’s Sanur is the signature sticky ribs. Generously marinated in Balinese spices and glazed over charcoal with the famous (and very secret) barbecue sauce, expect caveman-style slabs of whopping ribs (600 grams, no less!) glutinously glazed and slightly charred. The cooking techniques and flavours have been perfected for years, and the result is truly lip-smacking. Tender, succulent and with a subtle smokey finish, these sticky babies will have you licking your fingers and begging for more.
And of course, these killer ribs aren’t the only must-tries on the menu. You’ll want to get your snouts around the gigantic 500g Pork Tomahawk, the premium jumbo beef fillet, and last but certainly not least, all the scrummy sides. Think meaty sliders, the cheesy ‘crazy corn’ and the deep fried crispy chicken bites with Nuri’s secret dipping sauce on the side. Yum! And of course, all of this is best enjoyed with Naughty Nuri’s killer concoctions (we’ll take two Giant Strawberry Daiquiris, please!).
Twisted Martinis to shake it all off
It wouldn’t be a trip to Naughty Nuri’s without sipping on the world-famous Twisted Martinis, or without the “Shake Shake” dance that comes with every order. These oversized and super strong concoctions are worth the trip to Sanur alone, shaken and stirred with either vodka or gin and served icy cold. And as for that “Shake Shake” dance? Well, we’ll leave that for you to experience yourself… just have your cameras at the ready! And psst – if you’re brave enough to sink four Twisted Martinis or Margaritas during your Naughty Nuri’s Sanur feast, you’ll get your name carved on the Nuri’s Wall of Fame!
Don’t just take our word for it…
We could go on and on about the legend of Naughty Nuri’s and why this Bali icon is worth your Rupiah. But don’t just take our word for it. Big-name international celebrities agree too, with celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain, author of Kitchen Confidential and host of his famous TV series, claiming that Naughty Nuri’s martinis were the best he’d tried outside of New York. It’s even written in the guest book if you don’t believe us!
And that’s not all. Celebrity fashion designer, Donna Karan, and Hollywood superstar, Julia Roberts, have both visited Naughty Nuri’s and loved the ribs, drinks and lively vibes. Not to mention, Elizabeth Gilbert, the author who wrote, ‘Eat, Pray, Love’, was also a regular at Naughty Nuri’s for many years while living and working in Ubud.
Like we said, the reputation of Naughty Nuri’s is legendary. And now, it’s expanded to Sanur!
