Christmas in Bali may not be as lively as you’re used to back home. But those who do it, do it right.
Wondering where to stay around Seminyak for the festive season? Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach is one to look out for. And this year, this beloved Seminyak resort, which is also our Silver winner for Best Honeymoon Hotel in Bali at Bali’s Best Awards 2026, is going all out.
Across Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, they’re putting their two biggest restaurants to work. Makase will be serving festive buffets, and SugarSand will host multi-course dinners by the beach, with live music and fire dancers. The best part is that it’s all just steps from Seminyak Beach. And if you’re staying with little ones, they get to join free festive activities too, from Christmas crafts to treasure hunts. Let me walk you through the festive paradise…

Why Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach is always a good idea

Before I walk you through the festivities, it really doesn’t take a lot of convincing to love Hotel Indigo. It’s a luxury stay in the middle of Seminyak, with the beach a few steps away and the neighbourhood’s shops and restaurants close by. And when the sun goes down, SugarSand is one of the best sunset spots in town.
I’ve stayed in the two-bedroom pool villa, and it’s such a perfect base for groups and families. The bedrooms are separate and private, while the living areas and the pool are where everyone ends up together. My sister was absolutely thrilled to have some space from the little ones (while still keeping an eye on them from a safe distance, of course). I mean, at 800-sqm, there’s always room to spread out.
The private pool is the centrepiece, with sun loungers on a timber deck. A covered daybed sits on one side, and an open-air living pavilion on the other. There’s even a private kitchen and a butler on call round the clock, which comes in handy with families. Now imagine all of that, but with a sprinkle of holiday spirit all around…
The festive line-up: Makase & SugarSand

The festive season at Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach is looking feast-worthy. It all kicks off on Christmas Eve at Makase. The Southeast Asian restaurant will host a festive buffet dinner, with a live band and a fire dance to keep the evening moving. Forget a white Christmas. In Bali, we celebrate with fire!
Christmas Day gives you a choice. You can ease in with another feast at Makase, this time a buffet brunch with more than 14 stations. Look out for roasted honey pork belly ham and beef wagyu, plus seasonal specialities and gelato for the little ones. Chefs will cook at live stations right in front of you, while a gentle acoustic soundtrack will keep the afternoon slow and easy.
Or wait for the evening and gather by the beach for a multi-course sharing dinner at SugarSand. They’ve also introduced a new “borderless” menu, which blends Mediterranean, Asian and Italian flavours and more. In between, in-house guests with little ones can join free festive activities. That includes Christmas crafts, games, a movie night and treasure hunts.
Then comes New Year’s Eve, and you can continue the celebrations at either restaurant. Makase will host a buffet dinner, while SugarSand will serve a multi-course sharing dinner by the beach. Either way, a live band and a fire dance will get the evening going. From 11.30pm, the party moves to SugarSand’s Upper Deck and Kiosk Beachfront Deck, where DJs will play until the countdown and the toast.
Good to know: You don’t have to stay at Hotel Indigo to join in on the festive feasts. Simply book a table at Makase or SugarSand and come for the event.
When you need a break from the feasting

You know what comes after the New Year’s party? New Year’s Day. And after a night of endless bubbles and standing on your feet, your body will be begging for a reset. That’s why I recommend a visit to the award-winning Sava Spa. The spa sits beneath a Zen pool inspired by Bali’s subak irrigation system. Imagine starting the year with a traditional Balinese massage and a body scrub.
If you have more time, the 120-minute Magic Glow ritual combines a coffee scrub, a massage and a facial. You’ll be starting your day bright and shiny. There’s also a sauna, an ice bath and a hair salon.
The resort also provides plenty of activities, from free Balinese dress-up and endek painting to paid yoga and latte art classes. There’s also the neighbourhood bicycle ride, which gets you out of the resort and into Seminyak on two wheels.
My final thoughts
Hotel Indigo is always a good idea, and the festive season makes it an even better one. There are both villas and suites, the beach is steps away, and this December they’re going all out with buffets, fire dances and a countdown by the sea. If you’re planning Christmas or New Year in Seminyak, I’d book early.
