The Best Restaurants in Gili Trawangan
1. Ijo Restaurant
Refined garden dining with sustainable, farm-fresh plates – perfect for date night.

Tucked between the palm trees at Pondok Santi Estate, Ijo Restaurant is Gili Trawangan’s standout spot for a polished, quietly romantic dinner. Candlelit tables, a soft sea breeze and a menu that moves elegantly between Indonesian and Western flavours all set the tone. What really elevates it, though, is its commitment to sustainable sourcing and minimal waste. In fact, most ingredients come straight from the estate’s organic garden, or from trusted local fishermen and farmers.
When I stayed at Pondok Santi, dinner at Ijo was non-negotiable. I opened with the barley risotto crowned with a gooey onsen egg, then moved on to the kalio-glazed lobster, which felt like pure island indulgence. And yes, I still found space for dessert – their playful tropical pavlova with snake fruit, banana, rosella and kombucha was too good to skip.
Best for: Couples seeking a refined garden setting for date night.
Must-try dishes: Barley Risotto, Lobster, Sasak Pavlova.
Price: Mains start from IDR 150,000++
Address: Pondok Santi, Jl Pantai Gili Trawangan, South Gili Trawangan, Lombok.
Opening hours: Daily, 6pm – 10pm.

2. Francesco’s Pizza
Authentic Italian thin-crust pizzas, ideal for a quick bite pre- or post-island-hopping.

Sometimes you just need really, really good pizza and Francesco’s Pizza is easily the best place for it on Gili Trawangan. This Gili T favourite serves proper Italian-style pies with a blistered thin crust, rich tomato base and toppings that taste fresh rather than over-the-top. Whether you’re craving a classic Margherita, a Caprese or a meat-lovers option, the menu keeps everyone happy. FYI, Francesco’s Pizza is only a short walk from the harbour. And with a speedy service, it’s the perfect stopover for fuss-free food that’s damn delicious, before and after a day of island hopping.
Best for: Shared lunch and dinner, pre- or post-sailing.
Must-try dishes: Italian Countryside, Fresh Burrata, Vegan Queen.

3. Jali Kitchen
Hearty Indonesian and pan-Asian comfort dishes served in a cosy garden setting with homemade desserts.

A long-standing favourite among Gili T residents and travellers, Jali Kitchen sits just off the main northeast-coast path, giving it a cosy, hidden garden vibe. The menu blends Indonesian classics – like rendang and nasi goreng – with pan-Asian fusion that doesn’t hold back on the spice! Portions are generous, ingredients are fresh, and the kitchen consistently whips up hearty curries, spicy sauces and, my personal fave, the most indulgent cakes on the island…
Best for: Travellers looking for authentic, flavourful Indonesian and pan-Asian comfort food.

Boho beachside lounging with light daytime bites and charcoal-grilled seafood for golden-hour feasting.

Bringing castaway, coastal vibes to Gili T’s east, La Cala is the perfect beach club to linger all day. The boho décor and laid-back soundtrack ease you through the afternoon, before the vibe picks up for a breezy beachside BBQ once the sun starts to fade.
The daytime menu features international beach club staples that feel light, like fresh salads, tacos, burgers and sandwiches, to name a few. But, you’ll want to come back past 6pm, because that’s when La Cala fires up the grill, the aroma of seafood and meat on hot charcoal fills the nighttime, salty air…

It’s perfect for a casual night out with a hungry entourage, so you can swap and share the taco-packed menu. I also love that they like to keep the island beautiful, by up-cycling their empty bottles into unique, drinking glasses. And just like what they serve, they like to keep the vibe fun, friendly and welcoming here, which gets even livelier after dark. Psst… they have daily specials and happy hours, so it’s only natural to swing by more than once (I know I did!).

Whether you’re coming with the hungry kids in tow, or taking a date, there’s something for everyone here! I chose the giant lobster for dinner, barbecued to juicy perfection with butter melting on top, plus crisp veggies from the salad bar.
